Leave politics aside do you honestly think the minimum wage for civil servants should be 60k.
That's is the most unproductive organization In the country.
10% of them are outside the country.
Some haven't gone to work this year.

They are the most corrupt (even more than the politicians).

If you leave civil servants without salary they wld survive on bribe they take from citizens.

80% of them work less than 12 hrs per week.

Again forget politics. Judge by their conduct do you think they deserve it

Do you think you deserve to live?

If they are not productive, it is the duty of the FG to make them productive or sack them.

Maybe the people you know who work in the civil service behave this way!
However,it will be extremely wrong and illogical to paint every civil servant with the same brush!
There are civil servants that have been coming to work from the very day they started without even applying for leave!
There are civil servants that work their socks off everyday from January to December....some put in 25-35 years of their productive life in civil service with discipline, dedication and commitment!
What do they get in return for their hard work and dedication? Absolutely nothing!
Yet their so called smart colleagues who cheat the system to amass wealth for themselves are now the same politicians that you keep hailing!
Not every civil servant is corrupt as you are alleging!

I think all public and civil servants deserve a pay rise to at least N300k and more. There are rules to civil service and it is called the civil service rules. These are the rules that guide the civil servants. If civil servants are not productive or not going to work at all just like you insinuated, then Government must come out with a policy that will end the redundancy in civil service. But as long as Government doesn't care about efficency and productivity, then they must pay civil servants a manageable minimum wage, after all our president promised Nigerian workers a decent living wage. 62k cannot be a decent living wage!

The governors are the major problems of Nigerians workers. To think there's/are states still paying the #18,000 as minimum wage in these hard times.
60k minimum wage is unsustainable but they are comfortable spending close to one billion naira on refreshments and useless travels.
In fact I blame the very docile Nigerian populace.
If the NLC backs down in this fight, that number of Nigerians living under extreme poverty conditions is probably going to double before the year's end and corruption... you haven't seen anything yet. undecided

In May of 2022, for example, Naira was worth about $0.002409 meaning the Naira 30,000 minimum wage paid to Nigerian workers was worth approximately $72.27. Fast forward to this offer from the government today, and you will find that Naira 62,000 is a pay cut for Nigerian workers as it is worth nothing more than $42.14. For the NLC to at least return to what the people earned before the Naira crisis of around $72.27, it has to demand at least Naira 106,325.07, but this is not to be confused with an increase in salary at all. as it only ensures that they are all raised just above extreme poverty levels to pre-Naira-crisis levels.

When your senators, reps and other politicians increased their pay packages, nothing happened. Na when ordinary Nigerians demand raise to reflect the new reality in Nigeria after the Naira crisis, una go begin making noise. As long as higher taxes mean everybody will pay, then let it come. The trimming to follow should come from the top down hopefully beginning with the scrapping of states that have not been producing for all this while. undecided

This is as good a time as any to scrap all non-producing states and at the same time cut down on bloat. The nonentities you all elected are currently working on creating yet another state as we speak, all so that they can find more ways to milk the Nigerian people. grin

I don't think this one know the meaning of civil servants undecided, , .. well , let me help your ministry, the ongoing negotiation is to determine what should be the minimum wages for workers in Nigeria whether civil servants or private sectors employees, if you are saying civil servants doesn't deserve their wages because some of them were adjudged by you to be corrupt and hardly show up in office, it's like saying all students in universities should not pay school fees because some lecturers were considered to be lazy and doesn't like to attend classes or give their best to the students..

You're right bro. Majority of them do not even have office not to talk of ghost workers in the system. What I believe labor should have fought for is a good economy. I hope we'll be able to cope with the inflation that will come with this. How many private establishment can afford this minimum wage? Public servants in Nigeria are about 10 to 15 percent of the total population, what should happen to the remaining 85 to 90 percent?
A good economy, you say! You cannot have that if the pay of individuals paid by your own government falls below extreme poverty levels, I am afraid.

▶ Any amount less than $64.5 or Naira 94,893.69 is extreme poverty and should not even be considered of worth.
▶ Any amount less than $68 or Naira 102000, which is the former minimum wage adjusted for the approximate 340% depreciation of Naira since February 2023, is pretty much not a raise but adjustment to match the old minimum wage. I suspect the recent increase of 300% for the Judiciary was such an adjustment made against the Naira depreciation level. So this Naira 120,000 or $68 point needs to be where Labor begins its negotiating for a new raise.
▶ At the federal level though, anything less than N250,000 should be rejected by federal workers.
What is a poverty line?
A poverty line, also called a poverty threshold, is a set amount of income below which it becomes difficult, if not impossible, for people to afford essentials like food and shelter. Each country determines its poverty line by calculating the cost of meeting minimum needs. Households with incomes below this line are considered to be living in poverty.
The international poverty line serves as a standard for measuring extreme global poverty and was recently adjusted to $2.15 a day to reflect the rising cost of necessities and adjust for inflation. Since 1990, it has increased from $1 to $2.15, reflecting the rising cost of living.

If u are state worker,I pity u. With governors like this,u are doomed as a civil servants in states. Your future has been compromised if u don't start a side income ur future is done with.
States such as these were government is unable to pay their workers a reasonable fee that is above extreme poverty rates should be scrapped completely. Nigeria propping up state government which it cannot afford to have is a part of the problem. undecided

We all agree there is hardship and many home owner will still increase the house rent when in some countries home owners reduce the house rent.
