No matter how lonely or challenging your journey may seem, it will all end in laughter. Life often feels like a series of trials leading nowhere, with you walking alone, facing scorn and ridicule from those who do not understand your path. Just as Elijah felt isolated and despondent, saying, “I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts... and I, even I only, am left” (1 Kings 19:10, KJV), and how Jesus faced mockery and suffering, we too can experience profound loneliness and hardship. But in each of these stories, God transformed their sorrow into joy and their trials into triumph. As Hebrews 12:2 (KJV) reminds us, Jesus “endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God,” bringing joy out of suffering.

Psalm 126 tells of a time when the people of Israel, having endured suffering and captivity, were filled with laughter and songs of joy when the LORD restored their fortunes: “Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing” (Psalm 126:2, KJV). This promise is for you too. Though you may weep now, God promises that joy will come in the morning: “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning” (Psalm 30:5, KJV). Your tears will turn into laughter as you trust in His faithfulness. Your journey, no matter how arduous, is part of a divine story that ends in joy and fulfillment, as God turns your mourning into dancing (Psalm 30:11, KJV).

Hold on to hope and fix your eyes on Jesus, who endured the cross for the joy set before Him. He is with you in every step of your journey, promising that it will culminate in laughter and joy. The challenges and loneliness you face now are temporary, but God’s promise of joy is eternal. Romans 8:18 (KJV) encourages us that “the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Trust in His love and faithfulness, and look forward to the day when your story, too, will end in laughter.
