Good day Nairalanders,

I have an issue with a DS-260. I filled out the form for my mother, and she was approved here in the US. She also had her interview in Lagos in May and was told she was approved. However, a few days later , she received a call saying there was an issue with her documents. The agent mentioned she would be given another date to come in and provide those documents, but she never received the email to come back and defend herself. Instead, we received an email last week with a letter stating her refusal, along with another email asking her to come pick up her passport.

We are trying to determine the next steps to appeal this decision. It's worth noting that her documents were approved by immigration in the US. There seems to be something fishy, and it appears someone is not handling my mom's documents properly. We did everything correctly and by the books. I'm a US citizen, and they didn't even explain what exactly was wrong with her documents. Has anyone else faced this issue? What can be done to help? We have the option to file an appeal, but we are trying to explore other solutions before doing so. Any help is really appreciated.

Thank you.
