Moroccan striker Ayoub El Kaabi scored a perfect hat-trick (Right foot, Left foot and a Header) as Morocco triumphed with a resounding 6-0 victory over Congo in World Cup qualification on Tuesday, maintaining a flawless start to the African preliminaries for the 2026 finals in North America.

While Morocco dazzled on the pitch, other top contenders such as Cameroon and African champions Ivory Coast faced challenging away draws in a busy day of continental football action.

El Kaabi continued his impressive goal-scoring streak that aided Olympiakos in capturing the Europa Conference League title last month, securing his perfect hat-trick as Morocco secured a perfect record of three wins in Group E.

The dominant performance by Morocco began with a magnificent curling goal from Azzedine Ounahi, and further goals from Chadi Riad and Soufiane Rahimi left Congo stunned, reminding fans of Morocco’s impressive run to the semi-finals in the last World Cup in Qatar.

Elsewhere, Ivory Coast’s flawless start in Group F was halted with a goalless draw against Kenya in Lilongwe, Malawi. Cameroon, on the other hand, claimed a vital point away against Angola in Group D.

The results from Tuesday’s matches concluded the fourth round of African World Cup qualifiers, with action set to resume in March next year.
