Faculty Of Biological Sciences, UNN Unveils Various Projects, Bids VC Farewell* by Alumona123: 1:49pm On Jun 12
The Faculty of Biological Sciences, University of Nigeria, Nsukka has unveiled numerous projects executed using internally sourced revenue by the management of the faculty led by the Dean, Prof. Emeka I. Nweze in the last 22 months of his deanship.
These projects include: a brand new faculty of Biological Sciences boardroom, a state of the art car lot and the first since the existence of the faculty, landscaping of the Department of Plant Science and Biotechnology/Zoology and Environmental Biology premises and rehabilitation of the Zwelling building which houses the two departments, provision of solar lights in the Faculty building, repair and rehabilitation of various buildings in the Faculty, provision of the state of the art laboratory equipments, installation of CCTV cameras to secure the Faculty building, providing critical office needs in some departments in the faculty among other infrastructural facilities.

Speaking at the event, the outgoing Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Professor Charles Arizechukwu Igwe, FAS., eulogized the Dean for the landmark achievements despite the absence of TETFUND or other interventions to the Faculty. According to the VC, '' I thank the Dean for his innovative projects this is what public service is all about, university systems are for the service of humanity and not for personal enrichment, university funds are not for embezzlement, you may eat the one that will put in trouble''. He further advised those who are thinking of self enrichment to check Onitsha or Nnewi markets.

Speaking at the event, the Dean, Faculty of Biological Sciences, University of Nigeria Nsukka, Professor Emeka I. Nweze, enumerated his achievements since assumption of office as the Dean, maintaining that his vision is to place the Faculty among the very best among equals. He thanked the Vice Chancellor and his team for finding time to come and commission these projects despite his tight schedule. He congratulated the outgoing VC for a successful tenure and thanked Prof Igwe for reroofing a section of the Faculty building which was blown off by the wind several years ago. Professor Igwe, who is the 15th Vice Chancellor of the University will finish his tenure on 10th June, 2024. The Dean also thanked staff and students of the faculty for coming out in their numbers to welcome the Vice Chancellor and his entourage.

The event was attended by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration, Prof. Romanus Ezeokonkwo, the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, Prof. Johnson Urama, the Registrar of the University, Dr. C.A. Nnebedum, the University Bursar, Mrs Ada Obi Godwin, the Acting Provost, College of Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Obi Njoku, many Deans/Directors of Centers and Institutes, heads of departments among others.
