This past Sunday on Nigerian Idol was packed with standout performances and emotional moments. The episode, which marked the end of Jennifer Igomu's journey on the show, featured the top 9 contestants showcasing their talents with a theme dedicated to African music. Each contestant brought their unique flair to songs by renowned African artists.

Gracia opened the show with a powerful rendition of Miriam Makeba’s "Pata Pata," setting a high bar for the night. Maio followed with an impressive performance of Joeboy’s "Nobody," receiving praise for his ability to connect with the audience. Lady Ruth continued the momentum with Tems’ "Try Me," while Lammy’s energetic take on Wizkid’s "Holla at Your Boy" left the judges reminding him to focus more on his vocals amidst his engaging stage presence. The Competition Tightens!

Mira Clear stunned with her heartfelt version of Chidinma’s "Kedike," adding a surprising rap segment that wowed the judges. David Garland's performance of Reekado Banks’ "Easy" was noted for its star quality. Stevie's rendition of Davido’s "Feel" was so compelling that it drew comparisons to the original artist's performance.

Chioma delivered a captivating rendition of Omawumi’s "In the Music," culminating in a duet with Omawumi herself, creating a memorable moment. Chima closed the night with a stellar performance of Chike’s "Beautiful People," earning high praise from the judges and audience alike.

Unfortunately, Gracia and David Garland were eliminated in a surprising twist, highlighting the intense competition and the importance of viewer votes in determining the contestants' fates.
