No, its not because of election! Every govt has its own priorities. Obaseki's own is workers welfare. He supposed to receive award for that.
When Buhari negotiated minimum wage in 2019 with NLC at #30,000. Edo state under Obaseki was #40,000. In 2023 FG is still negotiating, in fact according to Tinibu's Democracy Day Message he is not adding anything on #62,000, for he read that he will send the new minimum wage to National Assembly.
At the beginning of FG negotiations with NLC, Obaseki agreed to pay #70,000. He has already paid it. He has never owed workers their salaries. This is his own charisma.
As regards election, any worker in Edo state that will vote for anyother person is mentally derail. Nigeria has not recover from APC change 2015. A bird at hand is better than a million in the forest. APC & LP candidates have rejected #70k minimum wage. Why would someone vote for them. Edo IGR can fund 70k.

Funny enough it’s an achievement o. Some states can’t even afford 30k minimum wage payment for their workers, talk more of someone that pays 70k, it’s a big flex. Go north, some govt teachers de earn less than 20k
