Ibos say Yoruba people betrayed them, then you also say Niger Delta people betrayed them. If what you're saying is true, Please why were the Ibos betrayed by these two groups? 1 Like |

LOVEALAIGBO: Why don't ibos focus on the development of the east and the environmental degradation going on there. Why are ibos eager to "help" other regions develop when you haven't developed your region yet. Why do you keep insisting that the South-South and Niger Delta are part of the East, When the indigenous people of that region have unequivocally distanced themselves from Biafra. 1 Like |

Schlumeinstein: You're full of deceit, lies and revisionism! What stupid cold war are you banging on about!? What existed pre uncivil war was the senseless envy, hatred, xenophobia and bigotry shown against Ndigbo by the Hausa-Fulani and a part of the Yoruba political elite! Azikiwe that won election in the west (voted by Yoruba electorate oh), but was schemed out of resuming his position by the chicanery and scheming of Awolowo, is who you're now saying was 'rejected in Lagos'!? I stand to be corrected, but at no point did Azikiwe go for the leadership position of egbe omo Odua! He was the national leader of his party the NCNC, and when Awolowo resorted to ethnicity to scheme him out of his elected psotion in the West, he went back to the Eastern Region to take over the Premiership (i think that's what it was called at the time) of the region from the respected Prof Eyo-Ita! Personally it's not something i would have done, but it must be stated that there was much more inclusion in clusion in governance of the region and mutual respect amongst ethnic groups in the east than was the case in Western Region! The Willinks Commission looked into accusations made by certain groups against others in the then Eastern Region and found them generally to be without basis! Of course, being a newly formed region (barely 6 years old when it was truncated by the senseless coup and counter-coup) it was bound to have teething problems....problems which would have been addressed given the passage of time! Another problem i see (and it's still evident today in the region) is that there are some mindless, self-serving elite in the region who can't see beyond their immediate lust for power and material gain, and it's these type of individuals who become easy targets for outsiders looking to destabilise the region and undermine Igbo interests so they can get control of its hydrocarbons! This was why it was easy for said outsiders to find saboteurs from within to help sabotage and undermine the then Biafra republic! |

Goodvibes007: Oh my God! These biafrans were not in their right senses. This is why till now the North is still very much apprehensive of them. Infact the arrogance still showed after Obi lost the election. The moment they get the Biafra they are clamoring for, the would wipe out other tribes. Worst part is they don't even see some igbos as real igbos. Looking through these documents, I can feel the horror 1 Like |

chucky101: To start with, where are you from? I ask so we can place your answers in their proper context! And why do you spell Igbo as 'ibo'? I hope you're not confusing Ndigbo rightfully laying claim to Igbo territories wickedly carved into the 'south-south/Niger-Delta' as us 'claiming other peoples land'!? Besides Mazi Kanu, who took the position that all parts of the defunct Eastern Region/Biafra would be invited to join the newly planned Biafra Republic (a position which even i once supported but have now seen to be unwise and unworkable) can you tell me of any time any Igbo person or group INSISTED that ethnicities in the south-south/Niger-Delta would be FORCED into being part of Biafra....and more importantly, can you tell us how the Igbo would go about FORCING anyone to join them in said new republic? |

Wickedlywicked: rather it is you that have to grow up and stop always attacking igbos and spreading the lie that they marginalised minorities in the old eastern region. i have asked you guys here that follow with these lies that they should bring a documented case from 1940 till 1967 where igbos marginalised minorities. up till now no one can bring any evidence even you. Goodvibes007: With the benefit of hindsight and now having access to a plethora of reports about events leading up to and including the uncivil war, any Ikwerre that falls for this your selective analysis and revisionism deserves all they're getting in the 'one Nigeria' of today that you 'liberators' bequethed to them! You think during the pogrom in which tens of thousands of Igbo men women, children and babies were hacked to death in the north, that the murderers stopped to ask if their soon to be victims were 'Igbo or Ikwerre' before proceeding to stick a dagger in their guts!? I am under no illusions as to your intentions on this forum or your actual ethnic identity! |

LOVEALAIGBO: You are lying This is the result of the 1956 Western Region Elections and Awolowo defeated Azikiwe Awolowo later strengthened his Posiion by allying with the Ibadan Peoples Party It was because NCNC was previously Herbert Macauley’s Party that it was able to get many votes in the West Herbert Macauley Still had much goodwill in the West Azikiwe destroyed that Goodwill wth his intense Tribal bias in filling Official positions meant for party members Azikiwe ended up turning the once National NCNC under Macauley into a Tribal party 3 Likes 2 Shares

Christistruth00: 15 Nov 1954 - RESULTS OF ELECTION IN NIGERIA - Trove LAGOS, Nov. ? 14 (A.A.P.). - The National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons, led by Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, won the colony's Federal elections in both Eastern and Western Nigeria on Friday. LAGOS, Nov. ? 14 (A.A.P.). - The National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons, led by Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, won the colony's Federal elections in both Eastern and Western Nigeria on Friday. It was a shock win in the Western Region, where Chief Obafcrni Awolowo's Action Group controls the Western House of Assembly. In the Western Region the N.C.N.C. Party won 22 seals and the Action Group l8, with one going to the Commoners. https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/18450325 ***** ***** ***** I don't claim to be a authourity on western region partisan politcs, but it's common knowledge that NCNC won more seats in the Western Region Parliament, but was denied the opportunity to produce the leader by Awolowo resorting to tribalism induced cross-carpeting. Of course we can argue over the issue of why a idealist like Azikiwe felt it was ok for any Nigerian to seek and be elected into office anywhere in Nigeria, but the hard truth is that his party NCNC won the highest number of seats (both in the western and eastern regions) in the elections of the period in question! |

Believeintruth: I refer you to Mr Elechi Amadi's book,"Sunset in Biafra" which was his observations of the attitude of the Ibo overlords in Ikwerre land before and during the Nigeria/Biafra civil war before the Federal troops liberated Port Harcourt. It make grim reading.... |

Slytiger: Do you not pretend not to know it's now spelt as Igbo? There were a myriad of ways indigenous names of places and people were spelt in the colonial period owing to pronounciations of the British colonials of the time, but things have been updated ever since. Did you also notice he used a small letter to spell 'ibo'? |

confusedlady: You are a liar, There was no overbearing attitude or any ibo overlords in Ikwerre Land before the war. The Ikwerre(The Diobus) are igbos as well their land where PH is sited is called Igwuruta or Igweocha so where is the igbo overlord on them? Also i would like for you to be honest if scenario changed and it was Western Region involved in a war and you guys used your closeness to the west to bring rebels to infiltrate them, please be honest with me will the West Clap for you or will they do what Ojukwu and the Biafran high command did to discourage sabotage? please be honest with your ansswer. because most of you keep using the attitude of Biafran army against the minorities as the excuse but no one has brought evidence. Even Elechi Amadi when he was alive was tasked in providing evidence based on his book that igbos bullied minorities from 1940 till 1967, and he had no evidence. Anyone can wake up and put his own opinions and bias in a book, it is up to us to use deductive reasoning to pick out holes in it. 1 Like |

Nukilia: There was no knowledge of and research into proper treatment of PTSD in those days. Many US soldiers that fought in the Vietnam war also were affected after the war and developed erratic and unstable behaviour. Thankfully the Invictus Centre and the new recovery facilities for our armed force will help avoid this. War is atrocious and the effects long lasting. A friend reported how an NG soldier returned from Ecomog in SL almost killed his wife several times whenever she entered into the BR without knocking or startled him while he was asleep. |

Christistruth00:The same NCNC non Ibos wrote a white paper document in which they detailed the tribalism and nepotism and how the ibos were filling up government positions with their people and skipping more senior non Ibos. Same rubbish they did with the VC's position of Unilag and UI in the western region. Senior Yoruba professors were skipped for less senior Ibo ones. When Ironsi was eliminated in the coup, those tribalist postings were corrected. 1 Like
