I've been a professional writer for years now,
My first official remote writing job was for Scooper news in 2019 when i got hired to write on trending news and stories.

The pay was good but as a young newly admitted student of the university of benin,
i had to quit to focus on my acedemics,


It would be years later before i would start earning from my writing skills again

Throughout my stay on campus i tried multiple businesses,
Being an artist i ran an art business,

i once had a bookshop for sometime,
once sold vegetables, once traded in Farm Equipments, once invested in motorcyles and many other businesses that did relatively well.


But my jackpot came in the form of Ghost writing,
besides being someone who wrote well, i had no particular skills with regards to ghost writing and my information on this business was extremely limited.


But when the opportunity came to delve into this business i did my research and today i can call myself an expert who has made quite a lot from this online business

First of all what is Ghost writing



Ghost writing involves writing various contents for clients for a payment, without claiming ownership of the written content.

Content varies from novels, articles,blog post and even scripts.


But in this group we will be focusing on those areas that have a large customer or client base

These are the lucrative areas of Ghost writing and only someone who has been in it can direct you to these points.

You see in every business their are the general markets and the specialized markets,

Specialist in certain areas of business always make more money than the generalist.

So you must not be a jack of all trades in Ghost writing,.you can know a thing or two about writing every form of content, but you must ensure you have a focus where you can grow into an expert with time



Now what are the Skills Required



Ghost writing
does not require any special skill

You don't have to be an above average writer to become extremely successful and earn passive cash from this business, while still doing your normal activities like pursuing your studies and doing your regular business

How lucrative is Ghost writing.

From having barely enough,
to making close to 100 thousand naira as a beginer in a few days was a breakthrough for me back then when i just started.


Ghost writing is extremely lucrative and stress free
It all depends on your approach to customers.


The demand for writers is quiet high.

Many of you, when you hear writers
You only tend to picture stories and novel works, but that is far from the truth.

Writers are highly in demand for contents like..

Youtube scripts
Blog post.
Articles on different topics
And books
Both fiction and non fiction.

Mind you, you get to be paid in dollars if you are in direct contact with foreign clients, i will explain this more on the next topic


A standard youtube script is 1500 words

And most clients pay between 3 to 4 naira per word

I personally charge 4 naira a word

Which is 6000naira per scripts.

On average i get to write four to six scripts a week.

Because my clients have youtube channels that post every week

This is almost 40000 a week from just youtube scripts


Not including the bulk projects like novels and some articles which come occasionally and are always from 5000 words upward.


Put this together if you are hardworking you can make 30k ina week

Or as much as 200,000 a month

I have been doing this business for just four months and i have not made less than 20,000 in a week


All this from a business
That require no
High class technical skill,

No initial investment money

Or anaylitics
No special ability
It is a goldmine and one of the cheapest passive income source in the online business market.

There are two types of Clients

Foreign Client
And Nigerian Clients



Foreign clients are mainly american or European.

You can locate them on Freelancing sites like Upwork or Fiver..
I belive we all have phones with working Internet so this should be Easy to do,
But if you are not Okay With working for Foreign Clients there is also a huge market for Nigerian Clients.




Advantages of contacting The Foreign clients is that they pay you in Dollars or Euros which when converted have extremely high value in naira.

The only issue is the payment transfer method,
For someone who is just starting you may not have the means to recieves payment in dollars, plus you may be naive in dealing with them as they mostly require perfect jobs



But if you have a dollar account and have gained some level of mastery then you have no issue

I personally have never worked with a foreign client directly, but majority of my works are for foreign clients(i will explain)

That brings me to the Nigerian Clients.


Now nigerians who have Dollar accounts,sometimes act as middle men.

They get these writing jobs from the foreign clients on upwork and fiver and look for skilled writers to deliver the jobs for them..

I work Exclusively for these middle men

This is the category i work for,

It is safer and stress free to work for this middle men as you get paid smoothly in naira and communication is way easier since its on whatsapp,

Also when i started,
my works needed some coaching and these nigerian clients are perfect as they would sometimes guide you on corrections to make

But not all of them are like that honestly,

Some would not tolerate any mistakes, that is why you must do your proper research before contacting them

Don't rely on them being nice as not everyone is like that.


But as you grow you can open a dollar account to get to work with the foreign clients directly.

But as a beginner start from the middle men.


The question is now, how do you find this middle men.?

Good question

This is actually the easiest part

They are everywhere ,on facebook, on forums particularly on this our

Nairaland forum
Majorly at the
Job section and literature section of Nairaland their are multiple clients looking for Ghost writers on those platforms.

Search for those who are in need of Ghostwriters,
One client can give you multiple jobs and on a consistent basis.




This forum has over 4 million active users, so we have an endless supply of clients

Also you can go on facebook join groups to help u easily locate those in need of ghost writers.

I have a client who for the past three months has given me at least 3 jobs every single week.
This is just one client and i have multiple clients....and still looking for mOre


The key is to do a good job and be consistent, keep to deadlines and be Hardworking

This is no get rich quick scheme,

Its for those willing to work and cease opportunity.

But actually, writing on your phone and cashing out every week is hardly hardwork to me,
Its just my opinion anyways.


Now lets talk about The works Themselves.


The Two most lucrative Areas with High level of Client base are

Youtube Scripts content
And the Fiction Content mostly on Billionare /warewolf/Romance novels.


The youtube script content are shorter,more frequent, more easy to deliver but with less pay

At least 6000naira per work,
But you can have five of these in a week

But the Fiction Content are larger,
More lucrative in payment and not as frequent.

They can range from 5000 word books to large series of even 50,000 words

But you must be careful,
Do not ever write a complete novel before you get paid.

Ensure you get paid first, at least part of the money, before you submit the work.

Thats my own principle, you can do what works for you.

For youtube scripts i can finish a work before i get paid, but i ensure i recieve payment for a completed work before i begin a new work.




Now you work should be written in WPS Format Or Google Docs format and submitted as a file.
Be thorough with your arrangement of your written Work.


You may use Google search and Other youtube videos to research on The Work you are working on as a guide

But try to avoid or minimize using Ai as a research tool

I don't use it at all as ,i've never seen the need.

And also because some clients don't like it being used in their works


Also for your writing,
You can write your content on your WPS or Google Document App and then use the app tools for editting,

It is through WPS that you can get your accurate word count.

The apps has a function to help u accurately count your words so u can get paid and not cheated

In Ghostwriting you get paid in WORD COUNTS


Do not miss this part, it is WPS that gives accurate word count, don't try to count the words yourself or falsify numbers..most Clients do a recheck on your project.

Before you submit, you can do a check with The grammar apps to ensure no grammatical errors are noticable.

Some clients are particular on good grammar .


After this,ensure your work is submitted as a file to your clients to show how professional you are with your work

Some Projects may require Links inserted

If you use the WPS apps
This links will only appear as
Words

But on the Google Doc, this links will appear as actually links which can be clicked on

So use Google Doc for Projects that require Links


I have done over 60 ghost writing jobs in the past four months,

And at least 40 of those  are Youtube scripts..

By the grace of God no single week has passed without me getting atleast 2 to 3 jobs minimum.

So to an extent i have a great deal of experience as my foreign and nigerian clients have always reviewed me positively, some even give me bonus for jobs well done
