Good morning.  Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers: 

1. Corruption Scandal Hits Police Constables Recruitment

* IGP  Calls For Review as Recruitment List Flooded with Non-Applicants
* Says published list contains Candidates that  Failed CBT 
* Allegation of Financial Dealings and Corrupt Practices
* The Final List Was Not Consented to By The Board.

The names of the successful candidates for the 2022–2023 Police Constables Recruitment Exercise, as recently disclosed by the Police Service Commission, have allegedly shown anomalies and corruption, which has alarmed the Nigeria Police Force.

2. Emirate Tussle: Kano Government Rejects N10 Million Fine

The 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, was fined N10 million for violating his fundamental human rights, but the Kano State Government challenged the fine on Saturday.

3. FG to partake in G7’s energy projects

The government of Nigeria has consented to participate in and gain from the Group of Seven (G7) "Energy for Growth in Africa" initiative, which invests in sustainable energy projects around the continent.

4. Why NAFDAC temporarily lifted ban on sachet alcohol sales – Reps  

The prohibition on the sale of alcoholic beverages in plastic bottles and sachets has been temporarily repealed by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

5. ANAN Rejects Proposed ICAN Act Amendments

The President of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), Dr. James Ekerare Neminebor, has expressed strong opposition to the proposed amendments to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) Act.
6. Armed Men Kidnap Fouani Company MD and Three Foreigners in Lagos
[/b]Armed men believed to be kidnappers have abducted at least three individuals, including foreign nationals, in Lagos State.

[b]7. Announcement of Subsidy Removal Done in Haste-Fayemi

Former Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, criticized President Bola Tinubu's decision to remove petrol subsidies on May 29, 2023, calling it hasty and "a little bit precipitous." Speaking on Channels Television, Fayemi argued that the abrupt announcement didn't allow the Federal Government enough time to prepare for its repercussions.

8. Nigeria’s inflation rises to 33.95% in May 2024

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Saturday released the most recent Consumer Price Index (CPI) report, which showed that Nigeria's inflation rate increased to 33.95% in May 2024 from 33.69% in April 2024.

Actress Chinwe Splendor has said that the institution from where she graduated wanted her to return the degree that had been given to her. This was in response to her admission that, during her time in school, she had slept with lecturers in exchange for grades.

10. Finidi George Resigns After Poor Run

Head coach of the Super Eagles, Finidi George, resigned following a dismal sequence of matches during the 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.
