What is dominion?

Dominion means to exercise absolute power over a thing or person.

It means to be fully in charge.

The only way to fulfill divine destiny on earth is through dominion; spiritual dominion.

What is spiritual dominion? It is the type of dominion God exercises over all His creation. Because God created all things by His Word, He exercises absolute power over all things that He created by His Word.

📖 John 1

¹ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
² The same was in the beginning with God.
³ All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

God created man in His own image and likeness to act as His powerful representative over the earth in dominion.

In other words, God created man to dominate the earth; to dominate spiritually like Himself.

This is why God in creating man, give him the dominion mandate. (Genesis 1:28) When man dominates like God, he manifests the glory of God.

The simplest reason why man is in such a sorry state today is because he has lost his original spiritual dominance over the earth.

📖 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
— Romans 3:23

When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, they lost the glory of God and were enveloped with a deep sense of shame. They lost their spiritual dominance and were subsequently dominated by diseases, curses, failures, poverty, stagnation, regression, etc.

God is never glorified in our poverty or failures. God created us to reflect His glory just like in a mirrored reflection. When people look at us, they should see God in His glory.

This is why it's an amazement when some christians settle for poverty.

These days, there are growing lamentations about how bad the economy is. But even in the midst of this economic downturn, some people are still buying exotic cars, establishing mega businesses, building houses, traveling abroad, etc.

God's original plan for man is spiritual dominance. And when man dominates like God, he showcases the glory of God.

👉 How does God dominate and how do we dominate spiritually like Him?


📖 Genesis 1

² And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
³ And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

God exercises dominion by His Word. When God speaks, all things are are subjected to Him and His glory is manifested.

When we speak God's Word, we dominate all things spiritually like God Himself. The more we speak God's Word, the more we dominate and manifest God's glory.

Jesus demonstrated this with the fig tree. (Matthew 21:18-20) He cursed the fig tree and it withered. When we speak God's Word, it has immediate supernatural impact on our environments.


👉 Deep truth of life

If we don't dominate, we will be dominated. It's either you dominate or you will be dominated.

There are lots of unseen powers and people that don't want us to progress or prosper. Unless we dominate them, they will dominate us.

📖And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.
— Genesis 27:40

One way to break the yoke of the enemy upon your neck is to dominate that enemy holding you captive by speaking the Word of God.

We dominate by the Word of God, which is the sword of the Spirit and the powerful upholstery of all things (Hebrews 1:3).

⁶ Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
⁷ All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;
⁸ The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

Out of all His creatures, God specially created man to dominate.

Our source of dominion over all the earth 🌏 and everything in it is God's Word.

How much time do you spend reading God's Word? Speaking God's Word?

No Word of God, no dominance, no power. It's as simple as that.
