Most Christians would say Joseph of Arimathea, possibly with the help of Nicodemus, and this might align with the Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark, and Luke).

But does the Gospel of John portray it the same way? Let’s explore this.

Starting from John 19:31, the Pharisees ask the soldiers to speed up the deaths of the crucified men by breaking their legs (crurifragium) and then taking their bodies away(Where were they taking the bodies?), citing the significance of the Sabbath as a high day in accordance with local Jewish customs.
31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

In John 19:32, the soldiers indeed perform crurifragium, implying they would then take the bodies away. They break the legs of the two men crucified beside Jesus but find that Jesus is already dead.
Since Jesus is already dead, the logical next step for the soldiers is to take his body down, along with the bodies of the two other victims, as that was their task.
Something to note is that all this happened around the ninth hour (3 PM).
The Synoptic Gospels agree that Joseph came to Pilate in the EVENING to request Jesus’ body. It would be odd for the soldiers to leave the bodies on the crosses until evening after being ordered otherwise.

In John 19:38, it says, “After this,” suggesting after the crurifragium and removal of the bodies as requested by the Pharisees.
Moreover, it seems unlikely that Joseph of Arimathea, a rich man who is also a Pharisee, could have taken Jesus’ body down from the cross by himself unless he possessed specialized skills in carpentry.

John 19:38 states, “Joseph of Arimathea… took the body of Jesus.” This fits if the soldiers had already taken the bodies down, and Joseph came to claim Jesus’ body.

In conclusion, as depicted in the Book of John, the soldiers complied with the directives of the Pharisees and Pilate by removing the bodies after performing crurifragium. Following this, Joseph of Arimathea arrived to claim Jesus’ body for burial.

Reflecting on the Crucifixion, one might ponder the care taken by the Roman soldiers during the removal process.
Could they have delicately removed Jesus’ body, or did they simply tear his limbs from the nails?

I don't understand exactly what the poster is trying to prove. The most powerful and important thing about the crucifixion and death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is for him to die rise up and not who took him down from the cross or who buried Him.
Again it's not about what the poster thinks or assumes but what really happened, BTW again poster, said Joseph went and demanded for Jesus' body in the evening, and not the next day, and poster tightly said that what the Jews want to avoid is the bodies not being around till the next day, do couldn't Joseph has buried Jesus before the next day from that "evening"
That he demanded for the body?

u discuss christ death like you truly loves him 😂
We all know the condition of the country we are now,it is by the special grace of God that people still remembers God not to talk of keeping his commandments.
Buhari and Tinubu have frustrated us Nigerians to the point that God's words where he said "this people calls me father,father..but their heart is far from me" has come to fulfilment on we Nigerians.
If we are hundred in number, the heart of 70 is far from God as it is now, people are busy trying to survive physically before talking about surviving spiritually.
God have mercy on Nigeria, and Redeem us on time if we are still redeemable or perish us all the soonest if that's what's left for us.
You can imagine how decayed and rotten the condition of things to the extent that many youths now sees Sunday morning as a very good opportunity to go for gym, play football, create tik tok contents and on the ladies' side,it's a good time to go tidy up her boyfriend's apartment!
Christ!!!! We are gone !

Same way I love the other criminals, or do you think those rebels were crucified beside Jesus by coincidence?
What do you understand by “Christ”?
Before Jesus was born, who did Greeks refer to as Christos?
