The latest episode of Nigerian Idol, aired on Sunday, June 16, 2024, was filled with emotional farewells and outstanding performances as the contestants continued their journey to the finale. The show saw the unexpected eviction of Jennifer Igomu, one of the season's most beloved vocalists. Despite her departure, Jennifer delivered a memorable performance of "Lonely at the Top" by Asake, reminding everyone of her talent and the importance of voting for favorite contestants.

The evening was themed around African music, with contestants performing hits by renowned African artists. Gracia kicked off the show with a lively rendition of Miriam Makeba’s "Pata Pata," which set a high standard for the night. Maio followed with Joeboy’s "Nobody," impressing the judges with his unique style and stage presence. Lady Ruth then gave a heartfelt performance of Tems’ "Try Me," while Lammy electrified the stage with Wizkid’s "Holla at Your Boy".

Other notable performances included Mira Clear’s powerful version of Chidinma's "Kedike," which featured a surprising rap segment that wowed the judges. David Garland captivated the audience with Reekado Banks' "Easy (Jeje)," demonstrating his star power. Stevie's rendition of Davido’s "Feel" was so striking that 9ice humorously suggested Stevie gave Davido a run for his money. Chioma’s performance of Omawumi’s "In the Music" was another highlight, culminating in a duet with Omawumi herself.

The show concluded with Chima’s stellar performance of Chike’s "Beautiful People," which left the judges and audience in awe. His performance was unanimously praised as one of the best of the evening, continuing his streak of impressive showings.

Overall, the episode was a mix of high emotions and top-notch performances, underscoring the intense competition and the contestants' determination to win. As the show progresses, viewers are reminded of the importance of voting to keep their favorite contestants in the competition. The next live show promises more excitement and can be watched on Africa Magic Showcase and AM Family, with voting lines closing on Thursday at 9 pm
