They intend to control the Venezuelans but have been encountering resistance hence they placed sanctions on them preventing most countries of the world from trading with them. They are trying to use the same technique against Russia but Russia is a powerhouse that cannot be tamed.

Venezuela's problem is not corruption rather like Cuba, it is the punitive unilateral sanctions place on all their sectors that is the problem. That is why even though they have the World's largest reserve, it remains largely untapped. Just search their daily production capacity to confirm this my point.
