I guess when she means refrigerator, she means the section of the fridge that does not get food frozen. Just like the section of the fridge you put egg, fruits, etc, etc..... otherwise if she's meaning the entirety of the refrigerator, I think she's mistaken on so many things. Because people have been doing such even before they came to know what is called a microwave today.

When I was a child,we cooked for a Month or at least weeks- to be taking it whenever necessary.
At that time,our fridge and freezer were frozen,so that no pathogens can even come near,not unlike today- where Lights/ Power Scarce because DISCOS, GENCO,TCN have become liabilities to Nigeria.
