The defense team only notified the court of their intention to seek negotiation with the Federal Govt through the AGF's office.

The judge simply told the defense team that it's not in the court's place to deny or approve such negotiation and that it falls on the defense to decide to or not to activate negotiations under Section 17 rules of prosecution.

The defense team was simply trying to get a court verdict on activating section 17 until the judge rescued both herself and the bench from such proceedings.

The prosecution even washed their hands from the matter stating that they are simply fiat agents to the AGF tasked with prosecuting the charges against the defense brought before the court and that they have no powers beside prosecuting the case and referred the defense to the AGF .
