Lagos State Faces Cholera Outbreak: 401 Infections and 21 Deaths Reported

infections and resulting in 21 deaths. Dr. Kemi Ogunyemi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, provided this update after a briefing with the Lagos State Public Health Emergency Operations Centre. The most affected areas include Lagos Island, Kosofe, and Eti Osa. Cholera, caused by Vibrio cholerae bacteria transmitted through contaminated water and food, manifests as severe acute watery diarrhea and can swiftly lead to death if untreated.
