From what I've seen, one big sign is their mindset about money. If they're always looking for ways to improve themselves or their situation, that drive tends to pay off big time down the road.

Wealth is financial education and discipline. Living to be free instead of buying things to show off for people who do not care about you

When he is broke but behaves like the rich. I don't mean live and spend money like the rich, I mean behave like them in terms of attitude and mindset. If he works smart and not hard, he will likely be rich. Most hard workers are low class. When he talks less and listens more, he may be rich tomorrow. If he is humble, chances are that he will be rich. One more important thing is of he is a careful fellow and a money respecter, you're looking at a tomorrow's middle class man at least. Respect is reciprocal, if you respect money, it will never disrespect you which is why you will never see a true rich man waste money or spray money at a public function like an idiot. My two cents.
