I'm not really practicing but she is, the problem now is, she's asking us to do both customary and statutory marriage, I ruled out statutory coz in Islam, it's not advisable and she knows, but her inferiority complex is making her to demand statutory a necessity....

Now, she's saying if we won't be going to registry, we should forget the relationship, this is someone I've met her mom and she has met mine, infact, I was just waiting to set up my apartment fully so I can request for the necessary things to be done on her and she's bringing this up.

Note, I can't do statutory marriage with anyone, not that I intend to marry more than 1 wife but I know how women can tend to use this against their husband and I'm trying to avoid that.


Matured advice...

Do you question her about her strong stance on statutory marriage?

Why not speak to somebody close to her in their family about your idea.

Registry marriage IS Shirk.

Non practicing Muslim is very close to No Muslim because you might be doing things that have nullified your islam and you won't know.

Like some have said earlier, Registry Marriage isn't Islamic, my advice stay out of it. From the chat, it's also clear that the lady isn't a practicing Muslim to be using such words.
Also she may be pressured from her family towards it, if that's the case too, then her family doesn't understand the Sunnah of the Prophet (SAW)
