alj_harem: The story started in 2008, within 3 years, it is a reality. Imagine how many refineries would have been built from 1999 to date in Nigeria? + this refinery will be feed 100% from the oil found in Niger Republic, they will consume enough for them and export the rest

This is good for Niger but it still wouldn't stop smuggling from Nigeria because the price at the pump was set at around a $1.20 per litre 579 cfa. |

$600 million can build a refinery in the desert thousands of kilometers away from the sea. Exports Niger: Niger Republic to export gasoline to Nigeria Saturday, 27 August 2011 17:37 Jorge Lascas News Africa - Western Africa - Niger Despite Nigeria being Africa’s leading exporter of crude oil, a lack of investments in the country’s refineries have left Africa’s most populous nation with chronic gasoline shortages. Now Nigeria is considering an arrangement to import gasoline from neighboring Niger. Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has been speaking to President Mahamadou Issoufou of Niger Republic at the opening of bilateral talks between delegations of the two nations at the State House in the capital Abuja, The Daily Trust reported. Issoufou told Jonathan that he wanted agreements signed under the auspices of the Nigeria-Niger Joint Commission, which include electricity, water supply for agriculture, information, desert encroachment and joint border patrol, to be implemented, adding that Niger would begin exporting crude oil by the end of the year and that Nigeria’s northern states could begin getting their supply of petroleum products from a refinery under construction in Zinder, Niger. The Zinder refinery, being constructed by the China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC), has a projected capacity of 1 million tons/annum, or 20,000 barrels per day, and is expected to come online next year at a projected cost of $600 million. Addressing a common concern of the two countries, food security, Jonathan told Issoufou that Nigeria had plenty of natural gas and was going to establish plants to produce fertilizer, inviting Niger to liaise with relevant officials to ensure that appropriate fertilizer was produced for his nation. http://export-hub.com/en/news-africa/151-western-africa-niger/3886-exports-niger-niger-republic-to-export-gasoline-to-nigeria |

You will get the following gallons from a barrel of Oil Product Gallons per barrel gasoline 19.5 distillate fuel oil (Includes both home heating oil and diesel fuel) 9.2 kerosene-type jet fuel 4.1 residual fuel oil (Heavy oils used as fuels in industry, marine transportation and for electric power generation) 2.3 liquefied refinery gasses 1.9 still gas 1.9 coke 1.8 asphalt and road oil 1.3 petrochemical feedstocks 1.2 lubricants 0.5 kerosene 0.2 other 0.3 So 20000 barrels of oil is equal to almost 1.7 million litres of Petrol and about 800,000 litres of diesel why is Nigeria cursed with bad leaders. |

I think this shows why we are not are not working as a country. I dont think Niger, like Ghana, have as many tribes, challenges, cultural selfishness & wicked leaders like Nigeria hence they will develop rapidly. This development is an insult to us as a country but we shouldnt be surprised about this. We are losing faith in this country. I foresee a split for us to move forward but even then, I dont think the minority groups like mine will have a say in the affairs of things if that happens. So we are obliged to remain as one and suffer the consequences. God bless Nigeria. |

@Topic A nation of fools governed by smart thieves. And fools will continue to canvas for subsidy removal as the solution to our problems. The government in Niger will stimulate its industrial development by reducing the price of PMS now that they refine theirs and no longer depend on importation. Nigeria on the other hand will increase its prices to annihilate any real development. SHAME ON NIGERIA, SHAME ON PDP, SHAME ON GOODLUCK JONATHAN. |

Wow. As if my previous post was a prediction. I hadn't even seen this when I posted earlier. The country declared an immediate decrease in price of gasoline and diesel. That immediate decrease from 679CFA to 570CFA is an instant 16% decrease in price. This is what we call development. Not the nonsense that a nation of fools are calling progress. |

Heh. Kudos to Niger Republic. If I were them though I wouldn't subsidize petrol. Or if you do, always make the final consumer price higher than whatever the price in Nigeria is. That way you can benefit from the Nigerian subsidy too. |

The problem of Nigeria is leadership!! What stop our government from building refinery in all the states of the federation. We have the resources and capacity to achieve that. This will go along way to address most of our problems. Like Unemployment, power supply, Fuel shortage. Revenue generation. Instead the govt is thinking of removing Fuel Subsidy, Rebuilding Toll Gates, increasing Electricity tariff, Renewing Drivers License and Plate number, Stopping the importation of rice. What a shame!! We must rise up and resist this abnormally with all totality. |

@kj hova A very big kudos to u for post, its the best i ever came across. It took Niger just three years to build a refinery, while, for the past 12yrs Nigeria have been unable to repair the ones they have. Its a big shame to those that have been voting for their leadership, SHAME ON PDP, SHAME ON THEIR LEADERS, SHAME ON THEIR VOTERS .KUDOS TO NIGER, GOD BLESS NIGERIA. RIP OJUKWU |
