Asue's Bold Vision: Benin Enterprise Park And Port Project To Transform Edo by blocksy007: 2:37pm On Jun 24 |
In a fervent display of optimism and vision, Asue Ighodalo, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, unveiled his manifesto today, promising a new era of prosperity and development for the people of Edo State. Central to his plan are two transformative projects: the Benin Enterprise Park and the Benin Port Project, both set to redefine the economic landscape of the state and herald a bright future for its citizens. At the heart of Ighodalo's vision is the Benin Enterprise Park, a sprawling 997-hectare mixed-use development that will integrate industrial, commercial, and residential zones. This ambitious project is designed to attract global industries keen to operate at the logistical center of Africa's largest economy. By 2025, the park aims to secure a Free Trade Zone License, making it even more attractive for investment. Initial investments will be channeled into essential infrastructure, including electricity and water, to ensure the park's readiness for industrial activities. Targeted policies will draw investors into the park, with a particular focus on solid mineral processing, modular refineries, and petrochemicals. These industries will leverage the natural deposits of hydrocarbon and solid minerals in the area, positioning Edo as a key player in these sectors. Another cornerstone of Ighodalo's manifesto is the Benin Port Project. Designed to transform Edo into a major import and export cargo route, the port will handle up to 300,000 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs). This strategic initiative is set to enhance economic growth and revive historic trade routes along the Benin and Osse Rivers, reconnecting Edo State with its rich commercial heritage. "We will work with the Federal Government and our development partners to accelerate the completion of the Benin River Port," Ighodalo promised. The port's completion will be a catalyst for the transit and tourism sectors, making Edo a bustling trade hub at the heart of Nigeria. To support this growth, Ighodalo plans to build 2,000 kilometers of roads over the next four years and attract investments in logistics and ancillary services. The economic expansion from this project is expected to generate between 5,000 and 10,000 direct jobs and over 50,000 indirect jobs, significantly boosting the state's economy and tax revenue. Ighodalo's manifesto extends beyond these major projects, outlining a comprehensive development strategy for Edo State. Key initiatives include Hardship Relief and Job Creation, Infrastructure and Agriculture, Security, etc. Ighodalo’s plans also emphasize the importance of electricity, potable water, and youth and women empowerment. He envisions a state where solid mineral processing, modular refineries, and petrochemicals take center stage, harnessing the natural resources abundantly available in Edo. https://afroscribe.com/benin-enterprise-park-and-benin-port-project-cornerstones-of-as/
