Dolzura Cortez Biography - Ma. Dolzura Cortez, who passed away in 1992, was a notable Filipino affected by AIDS. She became the first Filipino to openly share her life and struggles with HIV/AIDS. Cortez responded to a newspaper advertisement seeking an individual living with HIV/AIDS to document their life story, which later inspired a movie adaptation.

Her journey was portrayed in the 1993 Filipino film "Dahil Mahal Kita" (English title: "Because I Love You: The Dolzura Cortez Story", directed by Laurice Guillen, with a screenplay by Ricardo Lee. The film starred Vilma Santos, Christopher de Leon, Charito Solis, Maila Gumila, Mikee Villanueva, and Jackie Aquino.
