Gbolagade Adelowo has been named Shooting Stars’ Best Player of the Season.

Adelowo was presented with a cash prize of ₦5,000,000 as his reward.

He beat Christian Pyagbara and club captain Taofeek Malomo to the award.

The 26-year-old played a pivotal role in the Oluyole Warriors fourth-place finish

Adelowo played every single minute of the club’s 38 league matches with two goals and two assists to his name.

The center-back joined the Oluyole Warriors from Nigeria National League club Abia Comets in 2023.

ABIA state remains the only state with TWO clubs playing at the NPFL. plus a possible representation at CAF.

Gbolagade Adelowo Named NPFL 23/24 Player Of The Season After Shooting Stars’ Victory Over Sporting Lagos

Gbolagade Adelowo earned the NPFL Player of the season award as the NPFL season concluded with a thrilling 1-0 victory for Shooting Stars over Sporting Lagos at the Adamasingba Stadium.

Gbolagade Adelowo being named the NPFL 23/24 Player of the Season, was the highlight of the season a testament to his outstanding performance throughout the campaign.

Adelowo played all 38 matches in what was his debut season in the Premier League. Reflecting on the season, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity and the strength that allowed him to consistently perform at a high level.

Speaking on his motivation and consistent performance throughout the season, Adelowo told Sports 247, “Well, by the grace of God, I want to thank God for the strength and energy given to me.

I want to thank God for the privilege. Because, if you look at our team, the people playing on my wing at centre-back, they are older than me, they have the experience.

No disrespect to them, I give them respect. They are my senior men, they are my big bros. I want to thank them for their support, and their words of encouragement given to me.

Their words of encouragement make me move and keep on going. Do you understand? But, I want to thank God for everything. The team, the coaches, the fans for the belief in me.”

Despite Shooting Stars not securing the desired continental tickets, Adelowo remains positive about the team’s efforts and achievements.

Throughout the season, Adelowo’s motivation and consistency were evident. He credited his strength and energy to divine support and acknowledged the encouragement and support from his older and more experienced teammates.

This camaraderie and mentorship played a significant role in his success, pushing him to excel week after week.

Although missing out on continental tickets was a setback, Adelowo is not disappointed. He recognizes the unpredictable nature of the league and remains optimistic about the future.

His focus is on working harder and achieving better results in the next season, trusting that with continued effort, success will come.

Looking ahead, Adelowo is taking a humble approach, placing his future in God’s hands. His humility and dedication have earned him not only the Player of the Season award but also widespread respect and admiration from fans, teammates, and opponents alike.

No he won player of the season because he was exceptional, he won d epl twice in a roll with two different clubs... He didn't have more crosses than hazard or more assist than fabregas who played in d same team.. My point is u can't use goals and assist to judge a defender like u jst did

They have started. I knew those black sheep among the white sheep will surely be spotted, nothing in life you will do that will pleases them yet they contributed nothing to humanity.

The highest goal scorer, the boys in the club that came first, second and 3rd were they not born by a mother as they born you? See the joy of their mother seen their sons been celebrated. How old are you, minus your age from the boys age I'm sure you are older than them most but all you live for is to always find fault in everything yet you add no value to anything.

Shey you know better than those who selected the Shooting star guy ba? Then go and charge them to court and I'm sure you must be one of those obidient headless mob, by their word you will know them.

By saying that he should come from sides in the top 4 you've just shown me that you don't know what is being discussed, who is being talked about, what team he played for and what position the team finished on the table, so why should I continue this conversation with you?

I've watched the highlight.

The guy is a solid Defender, technical, strong and it's a miracle to play the whole 38 match in a season and still make top 4.

Good season of football for our league.

In the next 5 years, I want to see templates like 'beyond limits'. With real young boys that we fans don't need to doubt.

Let European power house come to the league and sign our boys directly like in south America etc.

Our league is coming up.

Final table and results of the final matchday.

Quite interesting how Bendel Insurance lost at home to Bayelsa United, despite being way above the visitors on the league table.
With a few home losses by different teams in this season, those using that as an excuse for being unpatriotic and dissing our national league should find something else to say for their loyalty to the leagues and clubs of the colonial masters who they ironically blame for underdeveloping our continent.

So sad that Sporting Lagos fizzled out but happy that another Lagos team was promoted to NPFL.

I see. But I think appearance alone shouldn't be the criteria for Player of the Season. Team results and players' individual statistics also matters.
