The Government of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has revealed plans to make Anambra, an Industrial City in Nigeria to conform with his electoral promise to Ndi Anambra.

Tagged "the Anambra Mixed-Use Industrial City (AMIC))," the new city will cut across three local government areas of Aguata, Orumba North and Orumba South on a 4000 hectares of land.

The city will have four broad industrial parks namely Agro industrial park, pharmaceutical industrial park, automobile industrial park and general carriage area that will be supported by financial services district for banks, residential, entertainment and export emporium; which will be connected to the Anambra Rail Masterplan in the future, as the city develops.

But at this Stakeholders Validation Session on the Anambra State Mixed-Use Industrial City Draft Masterplan in Awka, Governor Soludo said the event was to brainstormed on how to design a strategic work plan for an effective, efficient and robust industrial hub in the State.

Represented by the Commissioner for Trade and Industry, Dr Christian Udechukwu, the Governor said the event had representatives from the 179 Communities in the state, State Ministries, Departments and Agencies brainstormed on how to map the various sectors in the state economy into AMIC masterplan.

He appreciated the participants for gracing the event and assured them of more Government collaboration.

On his part, the Managing Director of Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA), Mr Mark Okoye observed that event sought to strengthen public/private partnership to ensure that all sectors of the economy in Anambra State is fully aligned to International best standard.

"We brought the host communities, their representatives, organised private sector, the academia and other stakeholders who are critical to the execution of this very project to this gathering to demonstrate the masterplan and get their comment and feedback.

"It is a new city, to be worked on in the next five years under phase development and different milestone. The way its being designed, it will work simultaneously with different clusters while adhering to protocol.

"The gathering also did a feasibility study and business case analysis for AMIC on how the governor intends to demonstrate his vision to Ndi Anambra to industrialise the state and make it a prosperous and liveable mega homeland.

"So we will go back with our Consultant, make the necessary amendments and take the comprehensive and amended draft back to the Executive Council for final approval," so concluded Mr Okoye, former Commissioner for Economic Planning in the state.

In their separate contributions, the Founder and the Director General of Onitsha Business School, Prof. Olusegun Ogbesan; the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Forster Ihejiofor; Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Entertainment, Comrade Don Onyenji and his Power and Water Resources counterpart, Engr. Julius Chukwuemeka said the gathering will help the state government assist all sectors strategically so as to fully tap each of their potentials enroute the actua proposed Anambra Industrial City.###
