Greetings everyone, I would like to know, what other documents (if any) does a US citizen need for a travel visit to Canada from Nigeria besides a valid US passport?
Also, can a minor kid (US citizen) be allowed into USA from Canada in the company of an adult guidian? (A relative). I would like my child to go on a 2 weeks visit to see his Dad in the US.
It's been 6 years since he left and I haven't been able to renew my visa to take the boy to go and see him.
I'm hoping we can visit Canada, then I'll have a relative take him to his Dad in USA on a short trip and bring him back to me in Canada, then we can return to Nigeria. If this is possible, what documents do I need for them to present at the US POE? and would this in any way affect my chances of getting a US visa as I plan to go for my interview after the trip.

I think you can change but you must wait 60 or 90 days (not sure of the numbers of days) after your entry into the US to avoid misrepresentation.......

Yes he had to pay again to get the IW. There is actually no annotation so I wonder why it’s now an issue if you select empty. In October I selected empty and I got IW but in November it seems to take u to physical appt.

Technically a us citizen doesn't need anything to enter the US.

The issue might be with the guardian. Since the child is a minor. I'd say prepare something to show you have given that person permission to travel with your child.

If it is an IW appointment letter, there provide you with two addresses for drop off, either the Abuja office (Maitama) or the Lagos office (VI) with the list of mandatory documents to bring along, so it could be printer error or something.......

Pls good people, I have been able to book an appointment via the Avits portal for drop off (Interview waiver) for the 26th of November, 2024 but on getting to the ois website, there is no date available for drop off on the 26th but on the 29th of November, 2024. Can i go ahead and drop off the passport on the 26th as stated in the IW letter or go ahead and book the 29th per the ois website so that i can drop off? Please i need your input, thanks

from my experience, the OIS people appear confused..b4 they were honoring ois dates for dropoffs, but now..they say its avits date, mine was 26th avits date, booked 29th ois date....went on 29th was turned back, and it was so painfully, cos i flew in and out. your best bet is to go on the avits date. show the people at the gate the avits letter, they should let you in. presently/last month...the avits date was superior to the ois date....hope they hvnt changed yet again, when u go

Whilst your child is a US citizen and can travel to the US. The subject around a minor travelling with a relative from a secondary location WILL raise a big flag.
Q. If you provide a letter / document for the relative to travel with your child, what address will you put there as yours ( As a visitor in Canada you are a temporary guest and you can’ t claim a residential status which will bring the document/ document into question) #secondary location.
— There is a slight chance for the US border agency to trigger safeguarding measure- authorising US govt protection of a (minor) citizen. ( You wouldn’t want this)

Seek legal advice or more simpler, your child’s father can visit Canada and take his child on a trip to US (less hassle).

Please I am having issues with scheduling an appointment with my wife as I have been able to secure an interview date but the AVIT app does not show where I can link the two applications together so we can attend the interview the same date.

After paying the B1/B2 visa fees, I initially realized that I could not book a group appointment on the AVIT app. As a workaround, I created separate applications for both of us. I was able to secure an appointment for myself, but I am unable to link our applications to schedule the interview on the same day, despite our intention to travel as a couple.

When I attempted to create another application for my spouse under my profile to link the two, I encountered the error message: "Duplicate applicants found for this user." This has prevented me from proceeding further.

I kindly request for guidance and support in resolving this issue so we can schedule a group interview appointment on the same day. Your assistance in linking our applications or providing an alternative solution would be greatly appreciated.

Follow the voice prompt like you want to change your user password, it will mention an option to speak with a support agent, choose it. Discuss this with the support person and ask direct questions like what has been done on the requests raised since, what is the current action at the moment, when should you expect a resolution?

I understand you may have done this previously but try again as you may be lucky to speak with a support staff who actually understands ur plight, understands English and may be willing to assist. Majority of the support guys dont know what they are doing or better still put they are acting based on given instruction.

Hello, you are doing the right thing. You need to wait a day for the system to reconcile your paying, and then you will be moved to the calender. Please do not generate another receipt that will mean you want to make another payment. log out and try again tomorrow and hopefully you will be taken to the calendar

anytime from two days after the visa has been approved, i did interview on Monday and picked up my passport today. You can check the status of your passport on this site https://appointment.oisservices.com/ and book pickup appointment also on the site if its ready for pickup.

This plan is not worth it for all the reasons Taal17 and Segun889 have presented. Child trafficking is real and a relative taking a minor who is not their child across an international will send up all kinds of flares. Even one parent traveling with their child across an international border without the other parent and even with a notarized letter permitting travel will trigger questioning let alone a relative. It is far easier and less of a hassle for the father to travel to Canada to see his child.

Child is a US citizen so he only needs his passport to visIt the US. If you insist on allowing the child to travel with the relative, the adult relative must have a notarized letter from you establishing that you are the mother and permitting travel and identifying documents from you like copies of your passport and child's birth certificate. The father should also send a notarized letter to the relative permitting travel to see him in the US, his own identifying documents like a passport, documents that show he is legal in the US, and a copy of the child's birth certificate that shows he is the father.

The relative must be ready to be grilled by airline and border patrol agents and also have a cogent explanation as to why he is traveling with the child and not the parents.

This is not legal advice but in my opinion, what you have planned is not worth it at all. Wait to get your visa and travel with your child!

People should not be rushing to make another payment after encountering challenges on the AVITS site. US Embassy themselves admonish people on this. Raise a ticket and be patient, as there's a lot of traffic. A lot of people are applying and facing issues.

So just the same way you'll stay on queue for appointment date, is the way you'll stay on queue to have your issues resolved. Rushing to make another payment, when you'll still be on queue for appointment date does not sound smart.

I have been following the discussions, Has anyone been able to get a date for this month or next? Although I have been monitoring like crazy and haven't seen any nearby date even though I have slowed down a bit. I am just regretting not choosing some Jan date I saw then because I didn't want to exhaust my 2 slots given to change,
