So fake!!! Absolute fake!!! I really do not know what's wrong with Avits. They're collecting visa fee without releasing viable dates. Everyone is stuck in picking appointment dates. Damnit!!!

The dates showing July 2025 are not working. The real ones which are working, starts from November 2025. So one can either take the risk of waiting (which may not work) or move ahead to choose the November 2025. The only thing is that while one is waiting, others are choosing the next available dates (From Nov 2025). This is only for those using the Lagos consulate
Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by DokitaDave(m): 10:32am On Dec 20
Seeing these far dates is scary. Is there any chance of getting a date in May 2025 or earlier, please?

Thanks for your response. Yes, you're right. They should rectify Lagos appointments dates, I think it has an issue. Because Abuja is working perfectly fine.

Those July dates are fake.
I see, it has been there for more than 3days now. Abuja has so many appointments in 2025 but none for Lagos 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️
Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by adenikeO: 6:36pm On Dec 20
I tried again on Wednesday and it worked, I was able to schedule an appointment for 12 noon and picked up my passport today. The whole process was pretty fast as I didn't spend more than 20 minutes at the OIS office.

Hi. Any luck with this issue?
Please use the chrome browser as some browsers don't work properly with the website and use desktop version if you're using your phone.
From the screenshot, it means you've been able to check your status and all. Just select country, select city (VI, Lagos for OIS pickup) select OIS under type and book your appointment.
Let me know how it goes.

Hi,

I made a visa payment on the AVITS portal two weeks ago via online transfer to First Bank Direct, but the payment is yet to be confirmed, and I am unable to book an appointment. I have raised a ticket on the AVITS portal with no response, sent emails to nigeria@usvisaappt.com and LagosNIV@state.gov without receiving feedback, and contacted the First Bank Contact Centre, providing all the necessary details, but still received no assistance.

I also entered the reference number and date under the bank deposit details, which showed "bank details updated successfully," but the page then redirects back to "generate deposit slip." I have also called +234 201 343 8900 all to no avail. Does anyone know how long it takes for Visa payment confirmation on the AVITS Portal?

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Is there anything else I should do? I would appreciate your assistance.

Sorry about the trouble you're having with the payment confirmation, Lynda. I hope this is resolved soon or someone here can guide you appropriately.

I made my payment today but I did a cash deposit at a First Bank branch. I wanted to ask what you entered as the Bank deposit slip reference number on the AVITS portal, please. I keep getting an error message whenever I enter the number on the deposit slip. Kindly guide me. Thank you.

What is the earliest date one can get in Abuja?

As at now, you can get May in Abuja. But for Lagos, no viable appointment dates yet. It's so pathetic😤

Same issue. Application just says “refused”
Initial IW application- Aug 28th
Multiple emails, passport not at OIS after multiple visits, no communication from embassy. If anyone has any suggestions, I’m getting worried here.

Hi,

Any update on your case yet? I have the same issue and I’m loosing my patience

I am a silent reader and in the same boat with you. Got my passport back in early October and unable to schedule 221G interview appointment. I've sent mails using the formats shared on this forum, made calls to no avail. I got tired and scheduled my trip to somewhere else - thank God I was able to collect my passport (Passport collection was another issue too as i did drop box in Abuja in August & requested for pick up in Lagos).
Would come back to it when i return in January...
I hope you get a solution to it soon.
Please share with us on the forum when you get the appointment.

How were you able to pick up your passport pls cos I’m in a similar boat and my passport is not yet out since 10th October

Thank you, Lynda. I did as you said and i got the feedback "bank details updated successfully". I went on to update my country from "select country" to "Nigeria" and i noticed the pending application on my dashboard disappeared. I really hope this is no serious concern. Also, on my account page, i can't see my application listed anymore.

It is well. I'll hope for a miracle because what I'm traveling for is happening in June.

Thanks for the feedback.

Forget about miracles, and face reality. Book whatever date is available now and reschedule if an early date becomes available.

After you book your appointment, you will be given 2 rescheduled opportunities.

I want to book an appointment in Abuja for May, can I change to Lagos if I see earlier date at later time?

Nice and profound advice. But this doesn't imply to Lagos applicants, because appointment dates are not viable for Lagos, except for Abuja.

I don't know how this works, but I believe you have to stick to the interview location you selected when filling out the DS-160 form.

If anyone knows how this works, please let us know.

I believe there's a glitch in their system because I was facing the same issues a few weeks ago when I was searching for an interview date and time for my wife, but I was able to pick a date a few days later.

I did pick Lagos while filling DS160 but due to the current situation that there is no appointment date in Lagos till February 2026, I was thinking I could switch to Abuja.

I intend to travel in April 😫😫

That's nice. So you pick an appointment date for same Lagos few weeks ago? Which Month did you pick to be precise? Thanks

It's been said on this thread that you can. All you have to do is create another DS160 with the same details as the Lagos own. Choose Abuja there.

Then go to the embassy with both DS160. The VO would switch it for you

Hello. Thank you all for all the information. I’d like to clarify that this is the current process for B1/B2. Please let me know if I missed anything.

1. Fill DS-160 (done)
2. Go on avitz, pay and choose interview date (done)
3. Go for visa interview - include ds160 confirmation, visa appointment confirmation , intl passport, passport photograph, supporting documents like bank statement, proof of job, proof of family etc.
4. Hold documents in hand during interview. ( no need to upload anywhere). Do you need to leave documents there?
5. If visa approved, will they tell you there immediately at the interview? Or you know after by checking the portal?
6. Pick up passport or have it shipped to you.

Thank you all.

Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by Zeni06: 11:31pm On Dec 21
You're on the right path. Your visa interview will most likely take three (3) minutes, or even less. The consular will most likely not look at any of the documents you came with as that's time consuming for them.
Simply pay attention to what you filled on your DS-160 form and be very bold and assertive.
You'll be interviewed in front of everyone and your fate will be decided in front of you, if you're rejected a blueish green paper is given to you stating the reason for the rejection, and if the visa is approved a white paper containing your passport pick up information is given to you whilst your passport is collected for the visa issuing.
You're not dropping any document with them and everything you go with will return with you.
Ps: Whilst you're there don't get scared by the number of rejections you see/hear. It's a strategy to throw you off balance before it gets to your turn and it works most times.
All the best.

Yes you can do so. Any consulate you have your interview will receive your data from anyone you chose on your DS160. That's what I did for my aunty early this year and she was given the visa.
