President Bola Tinubu has launched the National Construction and Household Support Programme, aiming to boost agricultural productivity, strengthen the economy, and provide immediate relief for Nigerian households. Announced during the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting, the programme includes a N50,000 uplift grant for 100,000 families per state over three months and a N155 billion fund for purchasing and distributing assorted foodstuff nationwide. Additionally, significant infrastructure projects, such as the Sokoto-Badagry Highway and the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, have been approved, alongside full counterpart financing for key railway segments. Each state and the Federal Capital Territory will receive N10 billion for the procurement of buses and implementation of the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) uplift programme.
