As for the part where you mentioned Ojukwu, there's some logic there:

If a member of the family says they don't like how the family is being run, and nobody wants to listen to them, they try to respectfully leave. If you don't care about them, you let them leave. If you do, you beg or force them to stay.

Well if you force them to stay and that's their only choice, what do you think they're going to do? They'll try to become the leader so they can change the way the family is run, so they can change what they didn't like. Or they can stay in misery since they can't leave.

You don't expect them to continue to stay and do nothing in the same situation they don't like, right?
