At the time of going to press with this story, Ghanaian Chef Ebenezer Smith claimed that the GWR had certified him as the new cook-a-thon record holder. However, fresh reports emerging suggest that Chef Smith's claim may be false. Chef Smith was reportedly picked up by the Ghana Police Service shortly after announcing to the country that the GWR had confirmed and certified him as the new cook-a-thon record-holder. On Tuesday, July 2, 2024, Chef Smith announced at a press conference that the Guinness World Record (GWR) has certified and confirmed him as the new cook-a-thon record holder.
