I think he is right, I did a school project in one of those community, "Owelle and Inoma, I hope I got those spelling right...there local government headquarters is in a town called Nzam...they are actually Igala but they do claim Igbo and I used to laugh them for that how I noticed that they are originally Igala is because, their older men and women answers Igala native names, but the younger ones answers Igbo names and speaks Igbo fluently.
They have that chronic Igala tongue....
You are convinced they're Igala because the old folks among them have Igala names, while the younger ones have Igbo names. However, according to Nairaland, those in the Niger Delta whose both young and old speak Igbo, have Igbo names and culture are not Igbo.

Nigerians are very interesting people.

Anyways, the reason their older folks have Igala names is may be because they are the ones who survived the war; they took on these names to avoid the stigmatization faced by Igbos back then. Now, with a new era dawning and the stigmatization wearing off, the younger generations have embraced their roots

This small boy get out of this place. So the governor should ignore those communities because of their supposed Igala ancestry? Why do I share country with people like this for goodness sake. I don't blame you sha. You said you are from Benue, a state that lacks major development similar to neighboring Kogi so development is alien to you guys.
Lol, one of the reason i am afraid for them is that, the moment igbos steps into their land, everything will scatter, i was not really against construction of medical centres or whatever but i know the moment igbos steps into your peaceful society what follows is , drugs, criminality, baby factory and the rest .
Now that you hardly find Igbos there, the guys are doing just fine ...

Please get lost and keep your stupidity to yourself. Imagine a reasonable human being telling the governor of a state to keep development away from communities to avoid breakdown of peace? Does that even make sense? Clowns always ranting rubbish on Nairaland.
mumu,..who told the governor not to develop the place,? I only expressed my feelings.

Now that the place is the way it is, those guys are happier, healthier than people in the so called developed places, all this is because other people like Igbos have not really mind to take things we know they are good at the place, ones development starts the Igbos will move in and the next thing will be,.."sometimes South Africans can tell you better😁

There are several islands on the river Niger that belong to Anambra state. They all fall under Anambra west LGA. The island of Igbedor seems to be the largest with a bustling fishing community there. The people there speak Igala and Igbo. For many years they were forgotten in the provision of government projects but now Governor Chukwuma Soludo is remembering them with healthcare, schools and sanitation interventions. Governor Soludo is the first governor to visit these island communities of Anambra state and he is engraving his Solution touches there.

All those Islands and over 300 other communities have been sacked by Fulani herdsmen.

Soludo tried for remembering the community but point of correction, there's no Igala speakers in Anambra.

Although some of Anambra North indgenes especially Riverine areas, villages along River Niger mainly, towns or communities like Odakpe in Ogbaru Local Govt, Onitsha, Anam, Nzam e.t.c are the towns with Igala descendants/migrants and that's over 16th centuries ago.

No town or community in Anambra currently speaks Igala. What some people actually regard as Igala is just a dialect of Igbo and it has no meaning in Igala language.

In Onitsha, the ogbe olu communities such as Obikporo, Umuikem (my village) are riverine communities that have link with Igala. But which tribe are we now? IGBO

I am Anam also...who wants to be associated with backward igalla tribe

The same people that will tell you that having an Igbo name don’t mean you are Igbo then they bring up the flimsy excuse “eh igbo people bear John and James, are they English?”,now they want to dash these communities to igala because a few people bear igala names
Nigerians are very funny people, they throw reasons out the window when it concerns Ndigbo
I don’t think the Olumbanasa are igala, they are Igbo communities with some igala migrants, see the names of their villages are Igbo, owelle(they migrated from Owerre,Imo state),Igbokaenyi,Inoma Akator(three brothers) etc

my brother, what that man did to me is something I can never understand. After all what I went through while he was comfortable in port Harcourt, sometimes I will be in a boat on river Niger at midnight without jacket taking materials from Onisha to the community, there is a day he called me in the middle of the night while I was on my way to the village by vehicle but the vehicle broke down, he told that he truly understood what i was going trough, that after paying what we agreed, he will add extra money for me, not knowing that it was just to tune me to finish his job for him. After the job I even used my own money for the handover expenses which he told me to, that he will pay me together with my money, ...hmmmm ...I got tired of asking and left everything to God.....I know that one day God will wipe away my tears....

Trash. Your Benue is recording more deaths than even the Boko Haram infested states. Focus on Benue and leave Nzam for the Anambra people. Nzam is occupied by Igbo and Igala people and the area is peaceful and will continue to remain peaceful.

And I said MAYBE the reason they speak Igala is because........

What is difficult to understand here?

If you know Igala people well and the type of relationship that have with Igbos despite sharing boundaries you will understand that there is no way someone's parents are Igala and they will claim Igbo.

No fvcking way.

They have that chronic Igala tongue.

During raining season, you can't access those villages by road, they use boat to Onitsha, and you can use boat and get to a town in Delta state across the river Niger and find your way to Asaba.

I wish those people are allowed to live their peaceful life the way they are, they are very happy and healthy, they lack nothing and are far better off tjan those living in developed towns...I never locked my door even at night,.the day they had a festival and some guys came fron Asaba and mixed up them, that was the night o lost my android phone the suspect was an Igala boy who was an idiotic migrant.
When the news got to the ears of the igwe, to my suprise they did a town cry and announced that that phone should be returned because it belongs to a stranger.....but it was never returned anyway...

they farm yam, pepper, rice and they have a lot of ogbono trees....they have soo much fish, and those people are in fact the most hospitable people after the people of benue state where I come from .
They are soo nice that after my project ended, I felt like not leaving the village.

They have farming camps far away from their settlements, life in those camps is something if you experience you will never want to leave the place.

Seriously, if I get money, I am going back to that place to visit some friends I made among them

I have never seen such hospitality in my life before, the day I left the village, I was shedding tears as old as I am😁

When I got back to port Harcourt, it took me time before I stopped wishing that I shouldn't have left the place.

Unfortunately, the contractor I worked for ate my money to the tune of 1,167,400...... Over a million that was all I worked for ...

What many should understand without fear is to divide payment into milestones. First milestone will be mobilization fee, second will be payment according to how job progresses. This system will will enable you to stop work until payment is fulfilled.

Historically these islands were major meeting places for people from all over. At one point the main language there was hausa due to how many northerners would come there for trade.

It was also a major market for hausa and fulani slaves
