Through the Force of Hard Work, He Rose to Prominence: A Biography of Chris O. O. Biose

By Emeka Esogbue

Chief Christopher Ozili Okafor Biose otherwise commonly known as "Chris O. O. Biose" is the Idumuje-Unor's best known political analyst.

Chief Chris O. O. Biose may mean different things to different people depending on the perspective he is viewed. His background is in sociology, but he is also a humanist, writer, bank worker, political and economic researcher, commentator of current affairs, radio host, and television host.

In his homeland of Idumuje-Unor, an Anioma community in the Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, Biose was born on September 21, 1944.

He attended the St. Matthew's Catholic School, Patriotic School and Local Authority Secondary Modern School, all schools located in Idumuje-Unor and also the University of Lagos where he read sociology.

The incredibly diligent Biose, who is typical of the Anioma people of his era, has worked as a banker and a university teacher, but he is most known for his roles as Chairman of the Bendel State Rural Electricity Board, full-time member of the Bendel State Board of Education, and Teaching Service Commissioner for the now-defunct Bendel State.

By the power of perseverance, Christopher Biose rose to prominence.

In addition to moderating "X-Ray," a well-liked TV show on Edo Broadcasting Service, Biose worked as a current affairs expert. Furthermore, he is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bold Publishing Ltd

Political Analyst, Biose, once suggested to The Guardian Nigeria:

"The fashioning and building of a nation out of such a poly-national state cannot be left to happenstance. It must be consciously designed, cultivated and nurtured by informed, patriotic and visionary nationalist leadership, devoid of parochial and sectarian bias."

For him again, "nation-building means that there should be a conscious effort to erect integrative social forces to moderate the potentially polarizing influence of ethnic, religious or group allegiances. National interest should be pursued to the benefit of the whole system, not to the overriding benefit of sections of it."

Scholarly-voiced Chris Biose unveiled a political view that came close to questioning the lumping of several ethnic-nationalities in one state in Nigeria when he stated:

"The national question arises when two or more nations are joined in one state. The Nigerian experience is that perceived oppression by any of the nations against one or more of other nationalities participating in the state enterprise often leads to social tension or threats of breakup of the union."

Despite being a political activist, he is one of the Idumuje-Unor natives who is frequently recognized and held in high regard for avoiding getting involved in controversies.

He is thus a revered community leader.

Chief Chris O. O. Biose is an Anioma Crusader who is interested in the socio-political and economic advancement of the populace. He was one of the most well-known Anioma figures who lavishly attended the Anioma Lecture in 2023, which was the first ever hosted by the Anioma Watch Social Association.

He is the Director, Strategy, Researcher, and Publicity of Friends of Goodluck in addition to being the Secretary of the Aniocha-Oshimili Elders' Association, one of the rarest Enuani pan-groups in existence today.

His well-known writings on the Anioma people are "The Biography of Obi Anyasi II, JP" and "Anioma: Path to Political Emancipation."

The Anioma Watch Personality of the Week is Diokpa Chris O. O. Biose, a dedicated member of the Anioma Watch, a legally registered socio-cultural organization of the Anioma people.
