The Ministry of Economic Development convened a crucial 2024 Akwa Ibom State UNFPA-supported programme implementation meeting with implementing partners (IPs) in the state. The event aimed at briefing the sub- implementing partners on the guidelines, and procedures for 2024 programme implementation and proper reporting, took place today, 9th July, 2024, at the Conference room of the Ministry of Economic Development.

The Honourable Commissioner for Economic Development, Mr. Emem Bob, chaired the meeting. His Ministry oversees the coordination of donor agencies activities within the state.

In his address, Commissioner Bob expressed profound appreciation to the UNFPA and the state’s implementing partners for their dedication and collaborative efforts. Mr Bob commended the Governor, Pastor Umo Eno for his proactive measures and commitment to projects that significantly benefit and transform the lives of citizens.

Earlier in a welcome remarks,
Barr. Christopher Udoh, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, extended his gratitude to the implementing partners for their continuous support and commitment to enhancing the healthcare system in Akwa Ibom State.

Dr. (Mrs.) Uduak Ekong, Director of International Cooperation and State Programme Director of UNFPA, presented an overview of the 2024 work plan, outlining key strategies and goals aimed at enhancing reproductive health services in the state. The presentation provided a comprehensive roadmap for the implementation of various health projects throughout the year.

Reports from the implementing partners outlined their intervention activities, achievements, and plans for the upcoming implementation phase. These reports showcased the collaborative efforts and successes achieved so far, as well as the areas that need further attention and resources.

The event was well attended by various stakeholders and implementing partners of UNFPA projects in the state. Their presence and active participation underscored the collective commitment to improving health outcomes and ensuring sustainable development in Akwa Ibom State.

The meeting marks a significant step forward in the continuous effort to address health-related challenges and improve the quality of life for the people of Akwa Ibom State through effective collaboration and strategic planning.
