Factions Disagree Over Governor Sylva's Move To CPC by Beaf: 6:01am On Dec 01, 2011 |
Factions disagree over Timipre Sylva's move to CPC By Ifedayo Adebayo November 22, 2011 07:12PM The call by the national secretary of the Congress for Progressive Change, (CPC) Buba Galadima that the Bayelsa State governor, Timipre Sylva may be considered for the party's gubernatorial ticket in the 2012 election in the state has been described as the peak of political hypocrisy by the rival executive led by Senator Hanga. The group, in a statement issued by its national publicity secretary, Dennis Aghanya, described as "most surprising to read the comment of the secretary of the Tony Momoh group on the development in Bayelsa state concerning the PDP's primaries that the PDP breached the right of the unwanted from contesting and thus cleared the way for the anointed and that the door of our party, the CPC, are open to the embattled Bayelsa State governor Timipre Sylva, on the ground that he is a victim of injustice." Mr Dennis stated that while the group do however not intend to involve the CPC in the internal affairs of another political party, "it is absurd, ironical and the height of hypocrisy to hear people who are dirty-stained with similar crime at the 2011 general election, judging another person on a similar issue. He who goes to equity must go with clean hands. It is like the pot calling the kettle black. On what moral basis is Buba Galadima commenting on the issue when he was the main culprit of the same offence in the CPC in the last elections?" Stating that the PDP gubernatorial primaries in Bayelsa State has vindicated why the CPC is challenging the result of the 2011 presidential election in the Supreme Court, Mr Galadima had in the statement issued on Monday stated that "as an innocent victim of fascism, CPC is sympathetic to Governor Timipre Sylva and all other victims of PDP's and the President's injustice. Our party's doors are wide open to all. We are willing to give every Nigerian a sanctuary against injustice and victimization by the state." The Senator Hanga group however described the development in Bayelsa as a farce that cannot be compared to what the Tony Momoh group was accused to have done in the CPC, claiming that "the Tony Momoh group in the contrary allowed our innocent party faithful to purchase forms, spent money to campaign, participated in the primaries and worn only to be substituted at the last minute either because highest bidders or their friends without political values emerged from nowhere. "The CPC was clearly at the top of the competition before the elections until candidates who won primaries were substituted. At the end of the elections we managed to win just one governorship elections in Nasarawa State. Even most of the national and state assembly elections won by the CPC candidates were petitioned by the Tony Momoh group at the various tribunals simply because their preferred candidates failed to clinch the party's ticket." The group also stated that if Mr Sylva wishes to contest under the CPC platform, he should be ready to go through our primaries and as such contest with our candidate and others who have been on ground. Nobody should expect an automatic ticket in the CPC. "Moreover, our aspirant, Famous Daunumigha, has not declined on his earlier mandate but we as a political party will be ready to abide by the electoral act. Moreover, the CPC is not a dumping ground for people who lost out in their political parties. We respect Timipre Sylva and wish that the crisis in the PDP can be settled amicably so that the polity generally cannot further be heated up. As a ruling party, the PDP should lead by example." http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/Home/5748350-146/story.csp |

So the Tony Momoh/Buhari group wants Timipre Sylva, while Senator Hanga's group does not and they are quarrelling on the pages of the press! Senator Hanga's group is also set to eject CPC from its national headquarters. They have been issued a quit notice over non payment of rent. Comical. |

Bayelsa remains the way Alamiesiegha left it.Even Jonathan could not do anything.Sylva is nothing to write home about. Dickson will be another 4-8 years of waste. Only Ben Bruce could have been the much needed Messiah. My stand is that since both Dickson and Sylva are the same set of incompetent people, why replace "okay" with "mediocre"? Even Timi Alaibe could do better than these two.Anyway I'm not from Bayelsa.Let them waste more 4 years.Na their business be that.My Imo and Rivers are doing well with competent Governors. |

Abagworo: Very true; Ben Bruce is indeed what Bayelsa needs. But wonder why he wanted to become governoe through PDP since his mindset to make sure the "people's money is spent for the good the people" is totally at variance with what obtains in PDP. 'wonder what made to think he has a chance of getting the ticket in the first place at all. And now that he been cast aside by the machinery of the PDP that would not want a similar "OKOROCHA tight-fisted" goverment that will not favour "chops-for-all" for the boys to happen in Bayelsa, if Ben Bruce really wants to help Bayelsans, why can't he go and contest under CPC or APGA; or isby force he must be a PDP governor. By the way, I noticed the SilverBird morning-show has stopped his pro-goverment suppoting tendencies during interviews that are political in nature, |

Why do Sylva want to put himself in a hole he cannot come out from. Sylva should recall Chinwoke Mbadinuju's jump from PDP to AD in 2003 and how he ended. Mallam kachalla's jump from ANPP to another party in 2003 and how he ended. He should learn from history. Like oliver de coque said "obele nwa n'amu iri enu, obi g'esi gi ike ka-imalu." (a boy that want to climb must be very courageous). Sylva, be courageous. Get liver well well if u wan jump from pin de pin to cee pee cee. |

zinosleek: Buhari and Co must be out of their minds to accept Sylva into CPC. If PDP can reject a candidate, then such a person is dead meat. |

Re: Factions Disagree Over Governor Sylva's Move To CPC by Chiori(m): 9:43am On Dec 02, 2011 |
Sylva himself would be foolish to cross over to the CPC, for that would mean, by the rules of the new electoral act, that he ceases to be governor the very day he crosses carpet. That would only compound his woes. Or why do you think the massive cross-carpeting has relented in this dispensation? |
