Those governors will find a way around it. Wait and see how they’ll start bullying and intimidating the LG chairmen. |

Atiku is wrong on this one That judgement was an aberration You cannot trash the constitution under the guise of giving LG autonomy |

Financial Autonomy for LGA: Effect Of Supreme Court Rulling The Supreme Court today, the 11th of July 2024, has resolved the constitutional issue of financial autonomy for local government councils throughout the 774 local government areas in Nigeria. Over the years, local government area councils, being the government closest to the people, have always been underfunded and financially neglected, leading to compounding issues ranging from insecurity to the non-payment of local government staff by the state governments. These and many more issues led to the growing need for restoration of the financial autonomy until there was an urgent need to act. The criminally minded Nigerian Governors will bypass this by simply using their thugs to rig local Govt elections to install their hand picked candidates who will have sworn to a mandate to give them or their fronts 90% of the local Govt funds through dodgy contracts. If the installed LG chairman reneges on the shrine and blood enabled agreement all the Governor has to do is instigate the Councillors who he also installed to impeach the LG chairman just like Tinubu used Lagos State Assembly to almost impeach Fashola and he also used McOluomo and his gang of former armed robbers and killers to deny Ambode a second therm in the dodgy violence induced primaries when Ambode tried to stop the money remittance to Tinubu from the Lagos State treasury. 2 Likes 1 Share |

tishbite42: Look at the SE Governors who were Tinubu's mates in1999. Egwu - Ebonyi OUK - Abia Udenwa - Imo Nnamani - Enugu Mbadinuju - Anambra Mention any of them who performed as well as Tinubu. They were all mediocre, except for Chimaraoke Nnamani. Or, have you forgotten how Tinubu gave many Igbos employment and political appointments in Lagos? Mention any of those in the list who reciprocated that gesture. Tinubu set up RRS when your governors Orji Kalu and Mbadinuju set up Bakassi boys. Can you compare the two? 4 Likes |

OkoYibo:Tinubu is a mediocre like the rest. Stop hyping nonsense. You can't even deceive fools now. In Nigerian culture, Bakassi (although now defunct) is ten times more popular than RRS and that tells you about how effective they are. God bless the two governors for that. As for employment, Yorubas were employed by those governors and that's why we have Yorubas directors and perm secs in Igboland. Go and play with children I'm too big for you to bamboozle. |

tishbite42:Bakassi was popular not because they were effective but because the crime rate in the east at that time was very high. All over Nigeria na east and crime, higher than other regions. Please tell me the state where you have Yorubas as perm secs and directors in Igbo land at that time. 3 Likes |

Did you read what you typed?! 😂😂😂 Go and browse the websites of the SE states and tell me how many Yorubas are in the Civil Service Crawl out of your hamlet for once |

Would the ruling not impact the relationship between transport unions and some state government who heavily support them? If this happens, are we going to witness some state government stopping such unions from operating in their states, seeing that the free funds would now go to local government chairmen instead? As parks now would be under control of local governments, are we now going to witness local government chairmen getting richer than state governors? Mind you, parks are huge businesses nationwide, with political parties sharing parks among their members, just like political settlements. |

tishbite42:🤣 You think I am one of those that talk about places they have never lived or visited? Are you talking about Federal civil service or state civil service? Yes crime was at the peak in the east at the time, I repeat what I said. Moreover I wonder how you people reason, once someone talk about the east he is automatically agbado what a pity. 3 Likes |

This is a testament to the fact that if you do something good, the generality of citizens will be happy, but if otherwise they complain. The government should also work on those areas that people are complaining about. |

DMerciful:You should be ashamed of your principal Obi. You see the way Atiku spoke well when Tinubu delivered. Though I won't be surprised if he now copies Atiku and says something because he is not a man of himself. I expect him to copy Atiku. An inexperienced man that would have led us to nowhere. 3 Likes |

He wont! Obi wouldn't have crashed Nigeria the was Tinubu has done. If you think this Supreme Court judgement is beneficial, wait until the damages start coming like subsidy removal. There is a reason why GEJ and Buhari left certain things like subsidy removal, naira floating and local govt autonomy. The first two policies of Tinubu backfired and his presidency has been damaged irreversibly. Now he wants to bury it with lg autonomy. Max24: |

It is one of the best news in Nigeria in this recent time. Those governors will start getting it that they need to work hard to make money. By the time a local government chairman outperforms a sitting governor, that governor is in soup. 2 Likes |

DMerciful:Funny, you said Obi won't. Are you Obis PA ? It's obvious you don't know politicians. I will tag you when he does. To the issues of policy again you don't know the situation of things. All govts since 1999 knew removal of subsidy, floating of currency and lg autonomy are the right things to do. They just didn't have the courage to bell the cat. Those issues are the best in the countrys long term interest. No great policy anywhere in the world that does not come at a cost. Even China had so many hardship when they were devaluing their currency but today they are prosperous. Aren't you ashamed of Nigerias progress after 60 years of independence what have we achieved? So we need a new strategy even if it comes with temporary hardship. Only a madman keep doing things the same way for 60years and expects a different output. Bros, you need to wake your brain up ! 2 Likes 1 Share |
