…Set to Continue Implementation of AK-CARES activities.

Akwa Ibom State Government is set to embark on the next round of activities of the Akwa Ibom State Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (AK-CARES) program.

The State Chairman of AK-CARES and Commissioner for Economic Development, Mr. Emem Bob, convened a meeting of the State CARES Steering Committee (SCSC) on Thursday, 11th July, 2024, to discuss key developments and future plans.

The meeting, held in the Conference Room of the Ministry of Economic Development, focused on several critical aspects of the project. Among the topics addressed were the outcome of the third Independent Verification Assessment visit, which took place in January, 2024, and an analysis of the implementation of activities to date.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Emem Bob commended His Excellency, Governor Umo Eno, for his visionary leadership in supporting the implementation of the Akwa Ibom State Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (AK-CARES) which is in line with the ARISE AGENDA.

He extended a warm welcome to the distinguished members of the State CARES Steering Committee and expressed his gratitude to them for their unwavering support and collaboration, recognizing their invaluable contributions in driving the initiative forward for the benefit of all indigenes of Akwa Ibom State.

Mr. Emem Bob urged the Committee members to remain steadfast in their dedication, aligning their efforts with the ARISE Agenda to ensure the successful implementation of the AK-CARES activities, which will lead to the achievement of the goals of the ARISE agenda and will eventually translate into an improvement in the well-being of the indigenes of the State.

Mrs. Enobong Okpongkpog, Head of the AK-CARES Coordinating Unit, provided a comprehensive progress report on the AK-CARES implementation, highlighting key accomplishments and milestones achieved through the collective effort of members of the Committee, Heads and staff of the Delivery Platforms and other stakeholders involved.

The workplans of the Delivery Platforms were subjected to extensive scrutiny by the members of the Committee.

The distinguished attendees include the Honorable Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Dr. John Etim; the Honorable Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. (Mrs.) Offiong Offor; the HSA on Multilateral and Donor Agencies, Rt. Hon. Sam Ikon; the HSA on Economic Development, Dr. Felix Udofia and the Permanent Secretaries of the implementing ministries.
