Former U.S. President Donald Trump was swiftly removed from the stage shortly after the start of his rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, July 13, following gunshots directed towards him.

According to Secret Service officials, Trump is currently safe and expected to survive. He was seen with blood on the side of his head and ear.

During the rally, as Trump was addressing the crowd, gunshots were heard, prompting Trump to reach for the side of his face. The popping sounds echoed through the event.

Secret Service agents immediately shouted at Trump to get down, then rushed to the stage and surrounded him. He was quickly escorted into a vehicle, with agents providing protection on all sides.

In a statement posted on X, a Secret Service spokesperson confirmed, "The former President is safe."

"This is now an active Secret Service investigation, and further information will be released when available," said agency spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi.

Trump's spokesperson, Steven Cheung, expressed gratitude for the swift response of law enforcement and first responders, stating, "The former President thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act. He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility. More details will follow."

President Joe Biden, who is spending the weekend in Delaware, has been briefed on the situation, according to a senior White House official.
