Are Libraries Still Relevant In This 21st Century? by hotspec(m): 2:18am On Jul 15
Many years ago, when I was struggling with my final year research project, after searching endlessly on the open web without much progress, I visited my institution library. The librarian I met directed me to related journals and online databases. Within few days, I got more than what I needed to complete my research. I can't also forget how I used the library as a relaxation to read newspapers, catch up on world news and sports.

Now the questions are: do people still use libraries today? How relevant are libraries in this digital age? How have libraries contributed to your personal or professional growth? Have you had any notable interactions with librarians? Can you share your memorable library experience? How do you see libraries developing into our future?

Kindly share your thoughts. @ Richiez, Fynestboi, olawalebabs, kindly help push to FP

Physical libraries are still very relevant in today's world especially in a country like Nigeria where most students do not have access to their own private study space at home. Also, it helps to have an environment that makes you conscious of the fact that you have a specific purpose for being there which is study, research or any other kind of focused work.

Used the library in my local govt while I was trying to gain admission to medical school..was exposed to alot of books then books I couldn't afford when I finally gained admission into the university didn't continue that habit of going to the library cos I noticed most students were hiding the kind of struggle they asked tru to get the kind of stuff they possessed. Some students only eat read go to classes and sleep for 6yrs with occasional hanging out to appear sociable

With the rapid response to quick questions from AI.

Having a physical library will gradually fade off.

I've written many projects and made research from the comfort of my home and I never visited a library. My co-reseracher as well only rely on his ebooks and other tools.

The only thing dragging us back is our educational system. From primary schools to universities. We are still manually writing lesson plans and using white boards when we could be using electronic screens and eManuals to teach.

Lecturers are still selling manuals for students to make photocopies before they could pass a course.

Still have fun memories of my time at various libraries from Secondary School, University and during my Postgraduate Study days. It was my own happy place. I've used library resources to advance myself personally and professionally. It was ALWAYS my happy place. But you know, the advent of the Internet (especially AI) changed the way knowledge is accessed and consumed. The last time I visited a physical library for research/study was nine years ago. I find that I've come to rely more on online academic resources which are readily available and convenient . . .
