Pastors Throwing Tantrums by DeDonniesHomes: 5:29pm On Jul 17
The recent tantrums some Nigerian pastors are throwing around like long tennis superstars playing the game in a heated match shouldn’t be one to marvel you

It’s also not one for you to involve yourselves in

When religious gladiators are on the battlefield, spectators do not have the moral authority to be the judge

Although, having an opinion is natural

The type of disputes or altercations these pastors have is necessary for reshaping Christianity in Nigeria and Africa at large.

It is redefining the Christian doctrine and promoting a general understanding of the right doctrine while explaining why some present practices are wrong.

Many of these wrong practices have been there for a long time and passed down from the fathers of faith in Nigeria to their religious sons and grandsons.

Not to mislead Christians but because that is the level of their depth of understanding at that time.

But as knowledge expanded, insights of the Word became clearer.

And the disruption from what has been believed for decades to what it should be isn’t going to come easy.

Remember when Facebook was new in Nigeria, many pastors called it the app of the devil, some even called it Fakebook

But they are now reaching out to the world through the same app.

Disruption is not just technological-based, it could also be religious.

Funny enough religious disruption could be very brutal.

Many Christians have always noticed these gaps and wanted the disruptions, but were too scared to speak up because each time they tried, they were shunned with high-handedness.

Another major reason for the general misconstruing of certain aspects of the gospel is the translation of scriptures from Hebrew/Greek to English and how the English Language has improved over the years.

For instance, there was a time in history when STUDY and DISCIPLINE could be used interchangeably.

In that case, if the King James Version were written in the 21st century, it most likely would have used – BE DILIGENT TO SHOW THYSELF APPROVED… instead of STUDY TO SHOW THYSELF APPROVED because DILIGENCE is a broader and more encompassing alternative than STUDY that better reflects the intention of the writer.

The third reason for their differences is that CHRISTIANITY IS A RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD, not just a mere religion.

And different people will, expectedly, have different depths of relationship with God.

At different points in their lives, many pastors have revealed that God told them that they were preaching heresies

They have had to apologize to their congregations and make a swift amendment.

Even Dr. Abel Damina recently told a story of how he still felt empty after preaching the gospel for tens of years until he found true grace by reading copies of the books of a profound authority of God’s word. And he himself quickly made amend.

This is why I expect him to understand that this present disruption in Nigerian Christianity won't be easy.

It takes conviction to get people to follow a new path and deviate from the old normal

Otherwise, they will see his actions as persecution.

They need time to digest his level of knowledge and know God in a new dimension.

And it will not be achieved through ridicule and power/knowledge flexing.

They are servants of God, not servants of Dr. Abel – let God convict them himself. Just do your part (teach/preach) and let them be.

You see how knowledge sets some men of God apart from others, that is how it sets some real estate consultants and investors apart from the rest.

Is there a way pastors all over the world can come to a unanimous decision on scriptural doctrines without throwing tantrums on the internet?

Unfortunately, no!

Difference in beliefs, understanding, interpretation, and application brought about the different denominations.

Yes, because of the complex nature of humans, their culture, verse global boundaries etc. We just need to imbibe religious tolerance to coexist.

So you mean the bible allows for contradictory doctrines in the body if Christ? If yes, where in the bible is that supported?

Where in the post did you see, "THE BIBLE ALLOWS FOR CONTRADICTORY DOCTRINES?"

At this point I'll assume your intentions for asking these series of questions is not genuine and I will not respond to any other question you ask.

But you just claimed that contradiction is supposed to be in the body of Christ.
So you mean that the statement was not Even biblical,
We should just follow your personal thoughts on the matter?

In a world of hundred of millions of Christians, it's only normal for people to have varying views some of which will be contradictiory.

This is becuase we are not zombies, we are humans (complex beings). God created us that way and understands that these differences will exist.

These differences leading to contradictions exists in all fields of life to a large extent. We can't rule it out.

The contradictions are not a direct act from God, but they are implications of God's decision to make man a complex being

According to the founder of Christianity all his disciples will be viewed by others as ZOMBIES because they will not think for themselves again instead they will obediently follow him even if it means suffering for doing so! Matthew 16:24
That's what will make his prayers answered as he prayed for them to have the same line of thought! John 17:22
In fact he was so sure that his followers will be united in the same line of thought that he said people who aren't members belonging to that body will accuse his disciples of being a CULT! Matthew 10:24-25
So when different religions with contradicting teachings and conflicting doctrines are claiming they are Jesus' followers something is wrong somewhere! 1Corinthians 1:10; Ephesians 4:3 undecided

So if we allow contradictions to exist in the body of Christ, would there be anything like a false or true church? Would that not mean that all churches are either true or false?

Even saint Paul and Saint Peter had varying views on certain aspects of the Gospel.

It got to the point when Saint Paul had to school Saint Peter that, "You cannot put a new wine in an old jar". Meaning you can't continue to mix up the old Testament with the new. For if the old was perfect, the new would have been needless.

It is human nature to vary in views and opinion.

There was another time God gave Saint Peter (in a vision) some creeping beast to eat and Peter responded with "The Lord Forbids" (since the old Testament forbids them to eat such) . But God responded with why do you forbid what the Lord has cleansed.

What is contained in Scriptures was inspired by the Holy Spirit, based on each authors work and experience with the Lord.

In today's world a lot has changed, thus reshaping significantly how we practice our faith to how it used to be.

For instance, women were not even allowed to speak in church, let alone preach. In those days, if she has a question, she can only pass it to her husband at home.

But today, women even preach in church and actively participate in a lot more church activities.

You see that aspect of "women not speaking in church", was cultural. In those days, women generally weren't allowed to speak in public, most especially when vital matters are involved.

Therefore, a general cultural global-change led to an immediate change of that belief.

Culture shapes religion and vice versa.

For example, dress code is a cultural aspect of life that is embraced by religion.

If an Isoko man wears wrapper to church he is still within context, if a Scottish man wears skirts to church, he is also within context because a skirt is a man's wear in his culture.

Life is more complex than BLACK and WHITE! And YES! there are TRUE and FAKE churches. But Even among the true churches, they do not approach all aspects of doctrine same way because some aspects of doctrines are dogma.

I don't have strength for arguments, the day is too fresh to start this way.

What would you call a young man of about the age of 33 who stood in the midst of people old enough to be his grandpa and told them that all their sacred services is worthless before God if they are not ready to obey his words? John 14:6

Of course people listening to him will say he's a religious fanatic! smiley

The examples you are giving have to do with individual personal preferences which does not lead to contradictory biblical doctrines. You are confusing individual and cultural preferences with contradictory biblical views of a matter.

Oga where did Saint Paul and Saint Peter have contradictory view of the gospel? I will like to know.

Who gave women the permission to preach in church today In the presence of Christian brothers?

How can you differentiate between a true and false church since you've claimed that biblical contradiction between churches is allowed?

"Is that the way it's supposed to be in the body of Christ?"

AND

"biblical contradiction between churches is allowed?"

ARE OBVIOUSLY 2 DIFFERENT THINGS.

Your approach is an obvious twist.

Lol.....the problem you have is that your stand on how it is supposed to be in the body of Christ is not biblical.
You are just giving us lamba based on your personal view....and when i tell you to prove your view biblically, you say my approach is wrong....is that not funny?

What we have in the body of Christ today is not just different personal preferences but contradictory biblical doctrines which was not allowed in the early church. Is the present church not supposed to copy the pattern of the early church?
