The Yoruba In The New World And The Jim Crow Era by lawani: 9:24am On Jul 18 |
The Yoruba in the new world and the Jim Crow era. More than seventy percent of the white people identifying as Lebanese or thought to be Lebanese in the new world are descendants of Yoruba ancestors. They are white Yoruba people. Their families were established in the new world by Yoruba people from West Africa centuries ago. The new world was populated from the whole world via migration when old world diseases decimated the indigenous population of the new world. Migration was from Europe and Africa. The traffic from Africa, particularly west Africa was heavier at the beginning before being overtaken by Europe when other countries apart from Portugal and Spain joined the migration. The migrants from west Africa included human cargo and free men. The traffic from Europe was more or less the same since indentured servants are also human cargo as well only that money was not paid cash for indentured servants was the difference while slaves were bought cash. Indentured servitude was a voluntary thing and many of the people were people fleeing from famine or abject poverty in Europe. Indentured servitude is the same issue of human trafficking that is still rampant today when young people seeking greener pastures abroad are tricked by predators. In west Africa, slaves were transported across the trans Atlantic slave route and free men also used the same route and as at the beginning of the nineteenth century, the vast majority of people of African descent in a place like Brazil were free men without counting white people of African descent who know themselves to be of West African or Angolan descent. The population of west Africa of 2024 is around 330 million and Nigerian Yoruba land contains 94 million of that and there is still Yoruba land in Togo, Benin republic and Ghana. The three nations total around 60 million. Ethnic Yoruba and associated people in those countries maybe around twenty five percent of the total population. This means that almost half of West Africa is ethnic Yoruba land while more than half live on land where Yoruba is at least a second local language. Given that the Yoruba were in control of the coast and contact with Europeans for centuries before others, it can be reasonably assumed that more than seventy percent of white people in the new world with African ancestry that are assumed to be Lebanese are actually Yoruba. The real Lebanese in the new world will be less than the population of Nigerian Igbo descendants in the new world. There were no Chinese, Indians, North Africans, Lebanese or any Levantine people to any significant extent in the new world before very late in the nineteenth century. The total population of white Yoruba people in the new world is most probably not less than the population of Germany which is the highest populated nation in western Europe. This is to point out that ethnicity has transcended skin color in the modern world. These new world Yoruba people are more serious with the Yoruba culture and spirituality than Nigerian or west African Yoruba and they have never been anything as a community other than Brazilian, Cuban etc or generally new world Yoruba. If not that the Yoruba elite, professionals and traditional rulers invited the British to end their seventeen year long civil war, the Yoruba would not have experienced colonization since the British were not disposed to violating the sovereignty of the Yoruba. The Yoruba would be like China or Japan while Lagos island will be to the Yoruba country what Singapore is to Malaysia or Taiwan is to China and etc if Lagos island did not eventually vote to join the bigger country as did West and East Germany that reunited decades after partitioning between the allied forces led by the USA and the USSR. The British on Lagos island were instructed by King George not to interfere at all in the Yoruba civil war and that they should let the belligerents resolve their issues by themselves. It was during that war that started in 1877 that the era of modern weapons came and the Ijesha, a sub Yoruba nation imported some guns to use against the Ibadan that initially held the Yoruba together as capital. The sound of those imported guns is why the IJESA call the war the Kiriji war. Therefore if not for that war and the British colonization that followed it, the Yoruba nation would have emerged as did Japan on the world stage and that would have provided a place for African Americans in the USA to return to if they want that. Therefore the Jim Crow era is a result of how Queen Elizabeth ravaged the British commonwealth. It did not happen in Brazil or Mexico since those places have nothing in common with Queen Elizabeth’s Britain. However the era was not different from what happened in other places in form of communal clashes like Ife- Modakeke, Umuleri-Aguleri and etc that happened in Nigeria. What is needed to close that era totally in the USA maybe to allow communities to.police themselves, reduce incarceration rates drastically by focusing more on fining law breakers according to their means for offenses rather than jailing them, support for family units, compulsory basic education as it is presently and opportunity for higher education for all those that qualify and thereby improving across board the quality of the citizenry. However African Americans are not West Africans. They are far removed from west Africans because they have sizeable European and native American ancestry like all other Americans. |

Can't believe I read the whole thing. Aren't there more fiction than reality in this write up? |
