The accident happened as the students were returning home after their exams. Eyewitnesses report that the bus was overcrowded, carrying 10 people despite its capacity being limited to 7 passengers.

This isn't the first time such an incident has occurred at the UNILORIN main gate

Over 90% of fatal accidents in Nigeria are due to overspeeding, reckless driving, and poor knowledge of or disregard for road safety rules and regulations.

Most Nigerians don't even know the basic driving and road use regulations.

Frsc and government should make driving school attendance and certification compulsory for anyone applying for licenses... And reeducation for those renewing.

It's only when such tragic event happens people remember how dangerous and life threatening such practice is.
But I bet you that same korope and driver and even some students have been in many countless trips like this for months if not years,always getting away with it till the devil suddenly woke up on the wrong side of unilorin today.
How many occasions have you seen students lapping themselves in overcrowded buses,so that they can all get home together or attend a function together.
It's only after accidents like this we all remember that overcrowding and overspending are 2 fatal vehicle combinations.

I'm trying to understand the scenario... This was around a campus main gate, the roads are good, it Looks like only one vehicle was involved, This is a korope which doesn't move that fast so what happened

I use to go through that route, there are more than 15 speed bumps on that road. Don't know why the school authority have refused to fix or fill the pot holes
