He has called me for some financial assistance, which I have already given him, though I gave it to him reluctantly oweing to my born-again life style and also I gave it to him because I never wanted
to offend my wife. But, brethren I dont want to attend the ceremony with my two kids. I dont want to attend because, I believe it is against the bible doctrine. I have already told my wife but she is totally against the idea because according to her, her father will not be happy with me and she will be ashame as other ladies in the family that married out will come with their husband except her. I dont want to offend my wife. Pls, brethren what should I do to avoid sinning against God and offending my wife?

Let God direct you on the next line of action, the bible says the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. Find time to seek the face of God for direction or rather, go for higher divine counselling from an exprienced Man of God on this issue, so that it will not boomerang. If eventualy, you want to Go, pray for divine protecion, by using psalm 91. It is well. God bless you. God2man.

What exactly will go on at the ceremony that you believe will be "against bible doctrine"?

It may be helpful to keep in mind that the practice of our christian faith does not automatically ban us from partaking of our rich culture and just because something is not in the bible does not automatically make it wrong. Infact, the scriptures encourage us to live as freemen, no longer bound by earthly rules & regulations of "don't do this" and "don't do that" - but instead guided by the Holy Spirit & love. My advice is to try not to offend or create rifts in your family - you do have an obligation to them. This is an important event for your father-in-law and therefore important to you, make sure you do not shun this over a sincere but wrong belief.

A christian can be king of chief . But it depends on the definition of that office. You can Christianise your world. Give them condition for acceptance. It's not every office or title a christian can accept . "chief priest " for example are abomination. But a christian can function in an office of influence or authority with the mind of using it for righteousness. I know some local government chairmen who preach the gospel. But if the office or title will not give room fo the expression of zgod righteousness, fleee.
