Pictures are actually an image, I agree with him. The intent of the command is worshipping an image. If the instruction is simply "do not make an image" then the whole world is guilty because we all snap pictures, 3D images, print posters and watch televisions. These are all images.

His example is also apt, why did God tell Moses to mould a snake, which Jesus himself referenced as an example of how He will be lifted up for all men to believe? Will Jesus reference idolatry as himself?

So what exactly did God mean when he said do not make an image of anything in heaven or on earth? What did he mean by that statement? Forget all the other stories you add. First explain that statement as it is by itself. Then we can now go on to the other stories.
