Tinubu Presents N70,000 Minimum Wage Bill To House For Passage by chisomkachy: 12:40pm On Jul 23
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday presented the 70,000 Minimum Wage bill to the House of Representatives for consideration and passage into law.

The bill is to legalise the N70,000 recently agreed upon between organised Labour, the organised private sector and the federal government after a series of negotiations.

The letter from the President which was read on the floor of the House by Speaker Rep Tajudeen Abbas provides for a new national minimum wage as well as the legal framework for the implementation of the agreed wage.

Tinubu appealed to the Lawmakers to expedite the passage of the minimum wage bill to ensure immediate implementation for the benefit of Nigeria workers.

The President in another letter also wrote the Lawmaker seeking amendment to the Nigeria Police Act by section 58 of the 1999 Constitution as amended.

The amendment seeks to alter the Police Act on the appointment and tenure of office of the Inspector General of Police.

Some people get paid 15k every month, those people are always out defending the 15k because Julius Berger signpost was erected in their village square. Ironically, those are the same human beings who will soon start heaping insults on Tinubu for paying "peanut 70k" which can't buy a bag of rice. Mbok, how bags of rice can 15k buy?

The amendment seeks to alter the Police Act on the appointment and tenure of office of the Inspector General of Police.

So Tinubu wants to extend the tenure of Current IGP who will be retiring few months.

Omoh ehh. This Administration no go kill this country o

He has tried, I commend him on this.

He should find a way to help us small company owners pay the minimum wage to our employees oh to avoid story that touch.

Anyway, those working for small companies should not expect salary increase, just pray that your company doesn't even sack you because of bad economy and low patronage, so no need asking your boss for salary increase in the name of minimum wage increase if you are working for small company owners, thanks

Iragbiji fraud who by extension is the yaribandits Messiah has sworn under both the new and old testament to deal with ibos ipobidients and I'm in for it.
These two regions should be allowed to anhiliate themselves as they are the problem of Nigeria, even though the nomads from northern desert caused more than 50% of problems we see in Nigeria.

Of what use is a pie nut rise of 20% when inflation of 250% is waiting to consume it.

This present administration and APC needs extinction. Every selfless and well meaning Nigeria wish they never existed.

But why is such law not applicable to many private organizations, especially those One-Man Businesses??

Now, Ghost Workers will be smiling to the bank while the sheeple e-war rabbits are still living in abject penury.

The minimum wage saga will only benefit very few,,

Very good this one. Give kudos where it’s due.

Now na implementation remain.

All state governors should ensure salaries are paid as and when due. Not that we will now hear of 3 years salary arrears you’ll start paying around election time.

NLC ensure private organisations adhere to this too.

Are we even supposed to be celebrating this minimum wage?

It's like giving Panadol to someone with malaria, at best it temporarily takes care of the headache symptom, but not the malaria.

Unless something drastic is done about the rising inflation and the attendant hunger and hardship, there will soon be another renewed agitations for new minimum wage.
