There's absolutely nothing wrong with that tweet. It is usually announced at plenary when a senator or member of the House defects from one party to the other and the social media handles of the Senate and House have a duty to report exactly what happens and what is said at plenary.

This is not new and it has always been the case.
Please don't defend nonsense, check the tone of the Tweets you posted and the tone of the one op posted, are they the same? Did the tone of the Tweets you posted make the defecting Senators' party the highlight like the one the op posted?

Please always stand for truth and nothing but the truth, thank you

I saw that. They were discussions mostly unlike the House of Reps: that were direct 'defection' posts and no discussions. However, none of them was done in such crass manner. You may want to re-read each of what you shared and cross-reference it with the initial post.

A few were discussions, but most were direct defection posts.

When a member changes party, he must inform the presiding officer in writing. The presiding officer will then read the member's letter at plenary and instruct the sergeant-at-arms to show the member his new seat.

It's not as obvious in the Nigerian National Assembly as in some other houses, but members of the opposition and members of the majority sit in different places, so the member's seat must change.

The social media accounts of the Senate and the House provide live reports of plenary sessions and in some cases committee meetings and press conferences, so they must report these things.

The only thing that is different is the use of the word dump (which is more appropriate in the media), but apart from that it is an announcement, like all the other announcements.

It's exactly the same. All of them highlighted the political parties (and I have explained why in many posts). The only thing different was the use of the word dump, which is more appropriate in the media.

In fact some of the screenshots I posted highlighted the party even more than the tweet in the original post

Once again here is a video of the proceedings. This is what the Senate handle was reporting about.

Video: Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi crosses the aisle from the opposition benches to the governt benches.

Say what now?

I wrote in plain English.

The use of the word "dump" is more appropriate in the media (newspapers, TV, radio), than on the senate handle (if you check the newspapers, youtube videos, etc, that's the word that they all used).

Apart from that, this announcement is identical to all the other announcements.

Including that part made all the difference as the Senate handle is also a media. That'll be all.

In a shocking turn of events, the Nigerian Senate, through their official X handle, @NGRSenate, announces the dumping of Labour Party by Ezenwa Onyewuchi, the lawmaker representing Imo-East Senatorial district.

Following a recent trend of unwholesome announcements made from official government handles on twitter, the post reads

"Labour Party Senator Joins APC

Ezenwa Onyewuchi, lawmaker representing Imo-East Senatorial District, has dumped the Labour Party (LP), for the All Progressives Congress (APC)."

This development was greeted with backlash from citizens, over the desecration of official handles under the APC government. Majority labelled it a direct affront on Labour Party, citing that Ifeanyi Ubah, the senator representing Anambra South, defected from the YPP but didn't even get as much as a mention on the same handle.

Labour party should sue and call him back, let him wait for APC ticket in 2027

Throwback:

You mean Peter Obi was aiming to decimate viable opposition when he left APGA for PDP that was the ruling party in 2014?

No wonder APGA has remained an Anambra affair.

See as you dey lament about Elluuu Piiii from top to bottom. The slogan dey sweet you that time, without knowing say guy men dey follow use your simple mind as you dey vote like blind man because of a shameless dolt as you have termed political prostitutes.

Besides if anywhere belle face politics na crime, then your popular Peter Obi is a chief criminal.

Make una dey fear God for this una hypocrisy exhibition, where Peter Obi of the same actions is a Saint while all others are Sinners.

I will be watching you closely to see how you will react when Peter Obi eventually prostitute himself again into another political party.

You’re being economical with the truth if you want to argue that Pierre Obi leaving the LP, for whatever reason, can be equated to the cross-carpeting of this nonentity and anywhere-belle-face upstart who won his senatorial position on the strength of Obis’ influence and popularity! Dude, as of now, Pierre Obi IS the LP…..HE is the one whose presence breathed life back into the hitherto comatose political party, so if he wants to leave, for whatever reason…say if Tinubu and his minions start their usual infiltration and divisive tricks, he will be leaving with his integrity and good name still intact!

APUGA was the party in power in Anambra state when Pierre Obi left for PDP, and it’s funny seeing you try to draw similarities between him leaving the party and this nobody of a senator leaving LP for APC, as the fact APUGA has retained power in Anambra ever since is a testament to Mr Obis’ honesty, uprightness and commitment to democracy!

Another difference between the aforementioned scenarios is that Pierre Obi WAS NOT holding any elective position in APUGA when he left it for PDP! Had he been holding a elective position when he left, even i would have criticised him at the time!
