Nigerian Government And Self Fulfilling Prophecy by danvon(m): 11:42am On Jul 25 |
" A self-fulfilling prophecy is an assumption or prediction that, purely as a result of having been made, cause the expected or predicted event to occur and thus confirms its own 'accuracy.' " Paul Watzlawick People sometimes create their own nightmares, they hear of a prophecy set about to prevent that prophecy which ends up making it happen, the story of the Trojan war in Greek mythology is a perfect example of this. Am I the only one who didn't take this protest seriously, I mean who in their right mind announces a protest weeks before the actual date, at best I concluded it was cringy nonsense - at worst, it was a pathetic DSS led sting operation. But the way Nigerian politicians have given attention to the protest, you would think it was something serious, protests are only dangerous when they are unorganized and sudden, not when you have weeks to anticipate it... What they are doing unintentionally is they are showing Nigerians how scared they are of their own people... And once some elements sense that fear it would have the ironic effect of causing the very eruption that they are trying to avoid... Now what shape or form would that eruption take? ...I'm not sure but if anything bad should happen in August, let the government understand it was their ridiculous fear mongering that made it happen. |
