UZOIGWE CALLS FOR CALM AND PEACE AHEAD OF PLANNED NATIONWIDE PROTEST By Joe Chikwado Nwuba 25th July 2024 Lagos, Nigeria - High Chief Kenneth Uzoigwe (Osike1), the former SA Political Matters South East to Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the leader of the Non-Indigenes in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Surulere Federal Constituency 1 and 2, has called for calm and peace among residents of Surulere and Lagos State. This comes as a planned nationwide protest against the present government is set to take place. In a statement released this morning, Uzoigwe, appealed to all non-indigenes and residents in Surulere and Lagos State to shun the planned protest and instead work towards maintaining peace and stability in the state. "We understand that there may be grievances and economic hardship in the country, but we must not allow those grievances to lead us into destructive paths," Uzoigwe said. "We must protect the government's properties, the lives of our fellow citizens and also exercise patience for the present government to work things out for the betterment of all." Uzoigwe, emphasized the importance of giving the present government and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, time to work on the economic reforms of the nation. "The present government has shown commitment to addressing the economic challenges facing our nation," Uzoigwe said. "Let us give them the time and support they need to deliver on their promises." He also emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence and the need for residents to work together to build a better future for themselves and their communities. "We are all stakeholders in this state, and we must work together to ensure that our state remains a place where everyone can thrive," he said. "We must work together to build a better future for ourselves and our communities," Uzoigwe said. "Let us choose peace and dialogue over violence and destruction." Uzoigwe's call for calm and peace comes as tensions rise ahead of the planned protest. The leader's appeal is seen as a move to prevent violence and ensure that the rights of all citizens are protected. Residents of Surulere and Lagos State have been advised to go about their daily activities without fear, as security measures have been put in place to ensure their safety.
