Today I observed a one minute silence to those that would go out on the 1st of August and never come back home πŸ˜”

That that would die during the national hunger protest

So I began to think: are there no better ways to protest without losing lives?

What would be the actual cost of this August 1st protest.

What message do we want to pass across to the government?

What exactly do we want to achieve?

A better way to go about this protest is for everyone to sit at home.

It's very difficult to manage a crowd- especially an angry and hungry crowd.

The probability for some people among the crowd to take the laws in their hand is very high.

The probability for the law enforcement agents to use force to maintain law and order is very high.

The cost of crowd protest is very high.

Properties could be destroyed. Lives could be lost

The same message could be passed across by asking everyone to sit at home.

The same results would be achieved.

You don't even need everyone to participate.

The NLC has been silenced with a 70k minimum wage.

They're very happy, thinking they've achieved a lot.

You only need the NURTW to participate by sitting at home.

Doctors and nurses and every other person on essential duty should find their way to work.

If NURTW should make a single demand " REDUCE THE FUEL PRICE NOW" or we sit at home, the government must listen.

They must sit up and do the right thing

Sit at home cannot work if they are no people to enforce it people will naturally want to go and look for daily bread them no go hear all this one wey you dey talk forget it it won't work.
It worked in the southeast because most Igbo's are naturally pro-Biafran and there is provision to enforce it because humans are naturally stubborn you cannot order anyone to stay at home without some degree of force

Nigeria protested in all the state during endsars. Lagos has more than five points where people make together. Only lekki to gate witnessed a challenge.

But every protest is being judged based on what happened at lekki.

Nigerians are really dumb

That happened in Lagos because the government sponsored people trying to stop the protest.

In other states, they left them to do their thing.

Those in the SouthEast have engaged in their sit-at-home for 4 years now. what have they achieved? undecided

Back in 2012 and 2014, when Nigerians protested, there were no reported killing of protestors. The murderous acts of the last administration were that, murderous acts, and this fact was affirmed by the courts. undecided

The sit at home makes you run mad constantly..

Your region is always crying... because the effects are total.

If Lagos experiences sit at home..you will all eat your selves in your houses. E sure die.

Sit at Home form of protest can't work without strict enforcement. Who will enforce it?
In South East where it seems to have worked, lives were lost or being lost too, while being enforced by IPOB or countered by State actors.
Besides, a lot of people depend on daily income for survival.

People like this are an embarrassment. Sit at home in the East only happened because the authorities kept shooting and killing innocent peaceful Biafran protesters dead. Some Nigerians praised the authorities for killing Biafran protesters, saying they were challenging the sovereignty of Nigeria.

People like me kept sounding notes of warning that encouraging the authorities to crack down on protesters, just because you don't agree with what they are protesting about, would create a situation where government would be emboldened to come down hard on anyone protesting against it, creating a dictatorship.

People did not listen.

You are in a democracy, but you are not allowed your constitutional right to freely express your self? What's the point?

It is the duty of government to allow people to publicly protest, ensure the safety of protesters and prevent break down of law and order

If government cannot do that, it is no government

Sit-at-home? More like sit-at-home and do nothing.

This is just another way for people to escape responsibility and accountability. Protests are meant to shake things up, not cozy up at home.

If you truly want change, then get out there and make your voice heard. The idea that staying home will somehow send a message is just a lazy excuse for inaction.

We need to stop this culture of passivity. Sitting idle won’t solve anything; it only allows those in power to continue their misrule unchallenged.

Enough of this sit-at-home nonsense; it’s time to stand up and fight for what we believe in!
