A group, Zamfara Indigenes Enlightenment Forum, ZIEF, on Sunday said it has decided to withdraw from the planned nationwide protest scheduled for August 1, 2024. A group, Zamfara Indigenes Enlightenment Forum, ZIEF, on Sunday said it has decided to withdraw from the planned nationwide protest scheduled for August 1, 2024. Speaking with newsmen in Gusau, the state capital, Tanimu Abdullahi, a representative from the Coalition of Civil Society Groups, CCSG in Zamfara State, highlighted many reasons that warranted the decision. He emphasized on the importance of the constitutional right to peaceful assembly and protest, noting that many Nigerians have expressed dissatisfaction with recent government economic policies, including the removal of fuel subsidies and increases in electricity tariffs and interest rates.
