What mess?? A lot of you are dafts...you just swallow the nonsense pushed out by the Government as the gospel truth. Government removes subsidy because they can't fund it for the masses but have enough of borrowed money on behalf of same masses to buy yatch, private jets, news Mercedes maybach for his wife, lots of suvs for his aides, new house for the VP, etc. Philipponzaghi: 3 Likes |

Why haven't I heard of this man before. This Adewole get mouth, I swear! I can't wait to read Onanuga's response to this. While I respect everybody, I think it is a bit beneath dignity to respond to a presidential spokesperson. He (Bayo Onanuga) is not even in government. So, if I am to speak, I will speak to what Tinubu himself says, or a minister of government like the Minister of Information, who has the responsibility to speak on behalf of the government. I don’t know how disciplined they are in that place. I didn’t win the election but I don’t think that is how to run a government; so I can’t comment on somebody who is of no rank, with due respect. I respect him but he is speaking above his rank. He is not the attorney general, he is not a lawyer; he doesn’t know what treason is all about. So he is just speaking. It will be indignity of the highest level for me having run at the highest level, to come here and speak about one spokesperson, maybe my spokesperson will speak about him. 1 Like |

As usual, leave the main issues and start talking about irrelevant things. It's evident in most of the comments already. The man raised serious issues but see the comment section filled with rubbish talks. "Tinubu is trying his best", when your children go to school and bring back bad results, pat them on the back and tell them they tried their best. Nonsense. "Critics only know how to talk, the man should go and sit down", I think you are just not capable of intellectual discourse if that's all you have to say about the article. Ad hominem everywhere. 1 Like |

Salewa97: Prince Adewale is an Igbo man in opposition to Tinubu, that's what you should say. Tell me one single thing your Tinubu has done to strengthen the economy. He's just acting based on external forces. Nigeria in Africa is not like a country in Europe or America. We have our peculiar challenges. You people are following blindly. |

Chinkoalhaji34: ^^^ So these platitudes were all you could come up with? Won't you say something about the policies themselves? Were they good or bad? Was it the sequencing that was the problem? What exactly went wrong? You haven't said anything weighty here. On other threads that don't have economic policy as the topic, you hurl insults at Nigerians who are speaking out about the Tinubu administration's failures. You can't do that on this thread because this thread is about economic policy and it seems you don't really have much to contribute. When a Bola Tinubu who paced around the southwest region for about twelve years campaigning for political restructuring of Nigeria becomes president but has not called for political restructuring of Nigeria, it's political quagmire in Nigeria. Tinubu's anti-protest stance is like attempt to silence the people in the two southern regions who have been seeking for political restructuring of Nigeria into true and fiscal federalism under a regional or zonal government system. |

It's clear that with all of Tinubu's boast, he has fallen flat and has made our economy worse than it ever has been. I'm sure he had good intentions and believed he could do it but he was too boastful, proud and didn't want to take advice from people he didn't agree with. His famous "na statistics we go chop" has now come back to bite him as he's looking for statistics to present to make it look like he's working and he can't cook up any. The statistics out there is real. N1,000 can't buy you food anymore that will satisfy an adult and that statistics is real. Inflation is real. Purchasing power has reduced and he's swimming against very strong tides of his own making. Mark this, nobody did this to himself than Tinubu himself. His policies were taken without due consultation and the optics is bad. He doesn't know how to go back anymore because it will take billions of dollars to take us back to Pre Tinubu life and we don't have such money at the moment except we drastically deplete our reserves. How can he raise up his hands to say I made a mistake when he boasted so much? Even if we protest, it won't achieve anything because going back will require us spending billions to defend the naira and return it to N500 a dollar. We don't have the production value and agricultural production to help us also because we are mostly import dependent. One thing I can commend is, Power has improved. With this power, can we boost production? I don't have a problem with subsidy removal. I only have a problem with what's happening with our refineries, private and stated owned. When will they start producing? The only policy that needs reversal is the floating of the naira. We must go back. We have to. Others can actually stay. But it will cost a lot to go back and the international community won't be happy. If we had the production to back us, we might have liver to fight back. Lastly, Tinubu is more of a coward than I thought him to be. I hated him for wrestling power from my pick for president, Yemi Osinbajo but it was brave to go against the them president and get power. He looked like someone who can make tough decisions and look at the lion eye to eye. My question is, why hasn't he fired anybody? He has bunch of non performing ministers, aides and special advisers and they have put him in this trouble. How do they still have a job? Does Mele Kyari have his nudes? The Agric minister, health, education, trade, etc... What exactly is their job? Even defense? With the rising security issues, somebody should have been fired. Ultimatums given. This worries me. Is this a government of his boys? In my opinion, this is his greatest failure and he's on his way to becoming the worst president in the history of Nigeria. It will also affect the Yoruba tribe because he will wipe out the goodwill that Awolowo, Obasanjo brought. Tinubu will be a negative reference and it's bad for going forward. It may be difficult for any Yoruba man to smell power after this. He needs to seriously adjust. You only need to reverse one policy Mr President and it's floating of the Naira. Then fire somebody! |

caye: The police are preparing and contriving plots just as if the Republic and the Monarchy were one and the same thing. It is the Gambettists who have lately in France driven the police into the profession of conspirators. Their first stroke was a master-stroke. The International was suppressed here by the law of the strongest; but the police re-established an imaginary International. They published in the Gambettist journal, the Paris, lists of adherents, rules, etc., which enabled them to arrest Krapotkine, Bernard, and other Anarchists. On the Anarchist journal of Lyons, the Droit Social, they then placed one of their own men, and it was his articles, that breathed nothing but blood and thunder which, read at the trials, contributed to the condemnation of the accused Anarchists, many of whom were sentenced to five years' imprisonment. Proud of their success, they thought they would succeed in insinuating members into Socialist organisations, so as to catch them in its snares. In point of fact they have succeeded in getting agents into all the organisations, men who have had to limit themselves to the simple rôle of informers, having never acquired enough influence to provoke any overt action. It is only in the Anarchist party that these agents can get any influence, as is proved by the case of the policeman Druelle, denounced and exposed publicly some weeks ago: he was one of the Anarchist leaders, and was amongst those who openly preached riot and the pillaging of shops. Paul Lafrague, 1883. |

Philipponzaghi: The previous administration was led by APC , the current government is APC, Mele Kyari and Olukayode Ariwoola were both appointed by Buhari, why are they still in government. You don't need more than one year to realise that the Tinubu government is clueless. What kind of government will implement fuel subsidy removal, floating the Naira(devaluation), and electricity subsidy removal all at once? Commonsense would state that the policy should have been gradual over a period of four years to manage the impact on the people. 1 Like |
