We have been seeing and hearing that ORUNMILA was the creator of ODU , ORUNMILA invented ODU .






When we know that ORUNMILA was not license to create anything neither is ORUNMILA the creator ORISA .

According to Ogbe Meji (Eji ogbe ) Dawodu casted Odu first, before Orunmila.



Here's a quote from Ogbe Meji:




"Ogbe Meji ni:



Dawodu lo pa Odu ifá
Ko si Orunmila
Ti o mo asho Odu
Nijo Dawodu fi Odu re
Si Orunmila"





Translated to English, this means:





"Ogbe Meji says:



Dawodu was the first to cast Odu Ifá
Before Orunmila
Knew the secrets of Odu
When Dawodu gave his Odu
To Orunmila"




In this tradition, Dawodu is said to have been the first to cast the Odu, and Orunmila later learned from him and expanded upon the system of divination.







So, to answer your question, Ogbe Meji credits Dawodu with casting the Odu first, before Orunmila.
